Substitute Wife, Genius CEO novel Chapter 226

Xavier was in the middle of feeding Lily her oatmeal. Hearing Julian burst in, he didn't even spare him a glance, patiently lifting the spoon to Lily's lips.

Lily shook her head gently.

"Be good, just a little more," Xavier coaxed warmly.

Lily obediently took another bite. Xavier picked up a tissue and meticulously dabbed the corners of her mouth, caring for her with flawless devotion.

Beaming with absolute happiness, Lily finally turned to Julian. "Why is he here?"

Julian dragged a chair to the bedside, his eyes alight with gossip. "Word is, Silas Sinclair's son had a severe allergic reaction to cashews and was rushed to the ER in the middle of the night."

Lily asked curiously, "I thought Silas was single? Is he married?"

But Xavier's mind zeroed in on a completely different detail. "Allergic to cashews?"

A sudden image of Summer's pale, ashen face flashed through his mind. Why exactly was Summer at this hospital?

Leo Sterling was also allergic to cashews.

Could it be that Summer had secretly handed Leo over to Silas Sinclair?

Given Summer's recent erratic behavior, it wasn't entirely impossible.

No wonder he hadn't been able to find a single trace of Leo!

How dare she!

How dare she hand his son over to Silas Sinclair!!!

She knew damn well that the Sterlings and the Sinclairs were sworn, generational enemies!

"Xavier, what's wrong?" Lily asked softly, gently tugging at his hand.

Snapping out of his thoughts, Xavier voiced his suspicion to them.

Julian exploded like a lit powder keg. He vaulted out of his chair. "How the hell does Summer have the nerve to do that?!"

"Let's go, Xavier. We're storming that room right now and catching them off guard!"

Lily chimed in with manufactured worry, "If you go, please keep your temper in check. Don't be impulsive. Talk things out calmly and don't humiliate Summer in public. After all, she is Leo's biological mother. The child is still young; he can't handle too much stress."
