Substitute Wife, Genius CEO novel Chapter 272

The moment she sat down, Xavier handed her a bouquet of sunflowers.

"Didn't you say you liked sunflowers before?"

Summer didn't take them. "I do, but I don't like anything you give me."

Xavier simply set the flowers on the table and passed the menu to her. "Order first."

Summer still didn't reach for it. "Just spit it out. We aren't in a relationship where we can peacefully share a meal. I'm afraid I'll get indigestion."

Taking matters into his own hands, Xavier ordered the food and dismissed the waiter before turning his gaze back to Summer. "Come back to Sterling Group. I never intended for you to resign in the first place. You tricked me into signing your resignation form. If I pursued it legally, your resignation would be invalid, and you'd have to pay damages to the company."

Summer glared at him coldly. "I told you last time, I am not going back to Sterling Group."

Unfazed by her attitude, Xavier poured her a glass of wine. "If you return, I'll bring her back. Also, I have the marriage certificate. Take the time during this meal to think it over carefully."

Summer was fuming throughout the entire dinner.

If she refused, he held both Maeve and the divorce papers over her head.

She had never met a scumbag so utterly shameless.

The waiter began serving dessert.

Xavier pushed it toward her. "I remember you used to love this."

"Love my ass," Summer snapped, almost wanting to smash the dessert right into his face.

Xavier spoke in a slow, deliberate tone, "Don't worry, I won't make you work for Sterling Group forever. Just until Lily finishes her postpartum recovery. You can resign in a year at most. I won't shortchange you on the salary either."

"Does your precious sweetheart know about this?"

"She knows."

During this time, Lily could rest at home for her pregnancy while getting familiar with the company's operations, all while avoiding trouble from the Sterling family.

Besides, the recent scandal had heavily impacted Lily; laying low for a while would help the public forget faster.
