“It's the cops.” The men in black nervously looked toward Miles.
Miles glared at Summer. “Your doing?”
Summer met his gaze with an icy, impassive expression and said nothing. Her silence was a brazen admission.
Miles let out a dark chuckle. “I really underestimated you, Summer.”
Summer's voice was frigid. “If you don't open that door, they're going to bust it down. I'd love to see how you explain this.”
Miles arched a mocking brow. “You think this saves you? They might save you today, but can they protect you forever?”
He gestured for his bodyguards to lower their weapons.
The door swung open, but it wasn't the police who walked in—it was Silas Sinclair. Behind him were his own bodyguards, the club manager, and the club's security team.
There wasn't a single police officer in sight.
Silas's face was terrifyingly dark. He strode straight to Summer's side, his deep voice carrying unmistakable concern. “Are you okay?”
Summer shook her head. “Gillian took a hit for me. She's injured.”
Silas immediately instructed his men to escort Gillian to the hospital.
Only then did Miles realize he had been completely played. There were no cops.
Fury boiled over in Miles, his face turning thunderous. “Silas, you dared to impersonate a federal officer.”
Silas shot him a lethal glare. “When did I impersonate an officer? Mr. Sutton, if you're going to throw accusations, you need proof. Where's your proof? Without it, that's baseless slander. The Sinclair Group's legal team has been pretty bored lately. Would you like a seat at the defendant's table?”
One of Miles's men spoke up. “Mr. Sinclair, we all heard you. You yelled 'police'.”
Silas's bodyguard scoffed loudly. “Get your ears checked. We yelled 'inspection'! You absolute morons!”
The club manager nervously stepped in, smiling apologetically to mediate the tension.
He couldn't afford to offend either of these titans, and sweat was practically pouring down his face.
Summer knew that with so many eyes on them, Miles wouldn't dare make a move against Silas.
She walked over to the sofa. Silas didn't ask a single question; he simply followed and sat right beside her.
Miles lifted his eyes to glare at her. “Not leaving? Don't think you can act tough just because you found a sugar daddy to back you up.”
Summer completely ignored him. Instead, she turned to the visibly anxious manager and spoke in a soft, polite tone, “Manager, could you please ask all the extra personnel to leave the room?”
