The maid nodded and led them up, but pushing open the door revealed a bare guest room. Nothing personal had been added; it was merely dusted.

Miles's face instantly darkened. "You call this ready?"

The maid explained, "We didn't know her preferences, so we didn't want to decorate it presumptuously."

Summer hadn't planned on living at the Sutton estate long-term anyway, so she didn't care whether she had a personalized bedroom.

But while she didn't care, Miles cared deeply.

He refused to let his sister suffer the slightest grievance. When she was little, she had been the princess of this house.

Her original room had been lovingly decorated by Leila, warm and inviting. But later, it was taken over by Lily.

He hadn't even been able to protect a single room for his sister.

"Summer, take my room," he offered.

"Okay," Summer nodded, adding with a warm smile, "Thanks, Miles."

To make a horse run, you have to feed it grass. Returning to the Sutton estate was a test for Miles. Since he passed, she was willing to reward him.

Miles's eyes instantly reddened, his lashes turning damp. "Summer," he choked out.

Summer's smile remained gentle. "Stop, no getting emotional. Show me your room."

Miles's room was right next to Lily's on the third floor.

As they headed up, they bumped into Xavier carrying a glass of warm milk upstairs.

Lily and Xavier were also staying over at the Sutton estate tonight.

The three of them didn't say a word, each heading to their respective rooms.

Once Miles closed the door, Summer said, "Xavier won't let this go."

Miles's eyes lit up. "Are you worrying about me, Summer?"

Summer looked away, avoiding his gaze. "I'm just stating facts."

Miles was thrilled. "My only weakness is you. Summer, I've hired ten bodyguards to watch over you in secret. Be careful when you go out, and call me if anything happens. I'm afraid they might do something desperate."

Summer looked at the photos decorating Miles's room. They were childhood pictures of the two of them, holding hands and smiling brightly.

She replied, "You should hire a few more bodyguards for yourself. Bennett abandoned his own flesh and blood, let alone you. You know too much, which makes you a threat. After being cornered today, they definitely hate you to the bone."

"You really are worrying about me, aren't you?" Miles grinned like a fool.

Summer didn't deny it this time.

Miles spent some time looking at their old photos with her.

Leila had taken all of them. Sometimes they were playing with toys, sometimes eating snacks, and sometimes playing on the swing in the yard.

"That swing is still downstairs. Do you want to play? I'm much stronger now, I can push you really high."

When she was little, Summer loved sitting on the swing, kicking her little feet, and asking Miles to push her higher so she could fly.
