Substitute Wife, Genius CEO novel Chapter 308

Summer put down her glass, her clear eyes meeting his. "Shouldn't you show some respect?"

Xavier naturally wouldn't.

Summer let out a soft laugh. "Xavier, if I don't apologize, who are you going to kidnap and threaten me with this time?"

Her tone was calm, and her eyes were steady, yet Xavier could distinctly hear the thick sarcasm lacing her words.

"Think it over carefully."

Xavier strode away.

Summer didn't move, nor did she turn to watch him leave. She simply said, "Xavier, I did nothing wrong, and I will never apologize. You brought all of this on yourselves. If you had just signed the divorce papers from the start, if you hadn't used my mother against me, maybe we wouldn't have reached this point. You reaped what you sowed."

Xavier stopped in his tracks, not looking back either. "Summer, what I did has nothing to do with Lily. I was the one who lied, I was the one who cheated, and I was the one who threatened your mother."

Summer chuckled lightly. "And what I did has nothing to do with my mother, does it?"

Xavier fell silent, offering no response before walking away. Miles returned from the bedroom with a hair dryer and helped Summer dry her hair.

His technique was incredibly skilled, as if he had done it countless times.

Summer remained quiet as Miles spoke. "Don't worry. Your loved ones are my loved ones. I'll help you protect them."

"Thank you."

Miles offered a gentle reminder. "Always make sure to dry your hair after a shower. Leaving it wet can lead to migraines when you're older."

Meanwhile, in the master bedroom.

Bennett scrolled through the DNA test report his assistant had sent him, taking a deep breath. "It's really her."

Lydia snatched the phone, seeing the results with her own eyes, her brow furrowing deeply.

Earlier in the lounge, Bennett had ordered his assistant to draw blood and personally oversee the DNA test.

Summer was indeed a Sutton.

Actually, when Summer had first appeared by Xavier's side years ago, Lydia had grown suspicious due to her striking resemblance to Lily. Worried that Summer might be Leila's daughter, she had specifically sent people to investigate.

But the relatives from the Vance family all swore Summer had undergone plastic surgery, a claim echoed by the villagers in Vance's Grove.

So Lydia had lowered her guard.

She had assumed Summer was just a gold-digging opportunist who had altered her face to look like Lily just to secure a place by Xavier's side.

It was hard to blame Lydia for thinking that way, considering even Xavier had believed the exact same thing.

Summer was only with him for his money.

Her sudden return had caught the Suttons entirely off guard. Bennett rubbed his temples. "What do we do now?"

Lydia looked thoughtful. "Leila is dead. They shouldn't know what happened back then."

Lydia was confident in this because she had maintained strict surveillance on The Sanitarium. Aside from her and Lily, no one could visit Leila without prior approval.

That applied to everyone, even Bennett and Miles.
