Substitute Wife, Genius CEO novel Chapter 312

"Of course not," Summer smiled, sitting down next to Grandpa Alaric. "We're thrilled to have you."

Silas placed the flowers in a vase in the living room and headed back to the kitchen to finish up.

Silas had cooked an entire feast.

A rich, savory chicken stew with incredibly tender meat, paired with a fragrant, spicy dipping sauce. The broth was clear, and one bite was enough to melt on the tongue.

Garlic butter shrimp that were perfectly plump and bouncy, packing a deeply satisfying, savory kick.

Steamed sea bass, using the freshest, highest-quality catch. The steaming time was controlled to perfection, leaving the meat tender and ideal for an older gentleman.

A tangy beef and tomato stew, where the soft, slow-cooked beef absorbed the sweet and sour notes of the tomato, making it incredibly appetizing.

And a plate of crisp, stir-fried seasonal greens that looked perfectly refreshing.

Grandpa Alaric looked at the beef in his bowl and said, "Stop serving me so much food. I'm an old man, how am I supposed to eat all this? You should be cutting Summer's steak. A girl's delicate hands shouldn't be doing all the heavy lifting."

Summer happily bit into a shrimp. "It's fine, Grandpa, I don't mind."

"Make him do it," Grandpa Alaric insisted. "A girl needs to pamper herself more. You have to learn to boss him around. If you don't keep him busy, he'll just get lazy."

Silas prepped a whole plate of shrimp and pushed it in front of her. "Is this enough, honey? I can make more if you want."

"That's plenty," Summer replied, her cheeks flushing slightly, feeling genuinely flustered.

Grandpa Alaric laughed. "Summer, you're just too sweet. What's there to be shy about? He's your husband. A husband serving his wife is the most natural thing in the world."

But they were just a fake couple!

Summer felt terrible ordering Silas around like a servant. A billionaire CEO's hands shouldn't be prepping her seafood.

After they finished eating, they rested for a bit while Grandpa Alaric took his medication.

Then, the three of them sat out on the balcony, sipping tea and chatting.

Grandpa Alaric handed Summer a gift box. "The Sutton family didn't invite us to your recognition banquet, so we didn't go. But I prepared a gift for you."

Summer accepted it with a bright smile. "Thank you, Grandpa."

Grandpa Alaric continued, "Summer, you and Silas are legally married now. I think we need to find a time to formally visit the Sutton family. We can't neglect proper etiquette, and we absolutely won't let your family look down on you or make you feel slighted."

Summer discreetly tugged at Silas's clothes. Silas immediately spoke up. "Grandpa, don't worry about that. We're following Summer's lead. She has her own pacing and her own plans."

"Good, good," Grandpa Alaric nodded with a smile. "I just wanted to make my stance clear so Summer knows we've got her back."

Due to his advanced age and his medication kicking in, Grandpa Alaric soon grew drowsy, his head nodding off.

Silas crouched down in front of him and gently woke him. "Grandpa, are you tired?"

Grandpa Alaric opened his eyes, looking a bit dazed and disoriented, almost like a child.

It really was true what they said about the elderly entering a second childhood.
