Half a month later, the VitaLink AI Project, in collaboration with Wesley Whitmore, officially launched.
The market response was explosive, garnering universal acclaim. Simultaneously, the project was awarded the National Merit in Science Award.
Pax's name was listed right alongside Harrison Banks and Wesley Whitmore. The elusive genius who had stunned the world years ago was thrust back into the spotlight, radiating brilliance.
On the eve of the National Innovation & Tech Awards, Summer drove to Harrison's house.
Just as her car pulled up outside the gates, she noticed Wesley stepping out of the vehicle ahead of hers.
Hearing the engine, Wesley glanced over. Recognizing Summer, he raised a curious eyebrow.
What was she doing here?
Summer grabbed a half-dead potted plant from her passenger seat and strolled over to greet him. "Dr. Whitmore, you made it."
"Did you know I was coming?" Wesley asked, surprised.
Summer nodded. Pushing open the wooden gate, she walked in as if she owned the place. Realizing he wasn't following, she glanced back. "Is it really that shocking to see me here?"
Wesley adjusted his grip on his medical bag and hurried to catch up. "You seem awfully familiar with this place."
Summer nodded. "Yeah, I come here all the time."
Wesley was stunned again. All the time?
The door opened to reveal Harriet Banks, Harrison's wife.
Summer placed the miserable-looking orchid on the console table and called out with a warm smile, "Harriet, I bought this orchid and nearly killed it. I brought it over hoping you could work your magic."
Harriet was an avid gardener in her spare time.
Summer had lost count of how many plants she had gifted her using this exact excuse.
"You," Harriet chuckled, tapping Summer affectionately on the forehead. "Your mentor is taking a call in the study. Why don't you take Wesley upstairs first? Let me see what I can do for this poor plant."
"Sure thing." Summer smiled, then turned to Wesley. "Right this way, Dr. Whitmore."
Wesley was utterly floored. "You're Professor Banks's student?"
"Do I not look the part?" Summer asked, leading the way up the stairs.
Suddenly, everything clicked into place for him. "No wonder."
Summer stopped dead in her tracks. Even though he had only said two words, she knew exactly what he meant.
She looked back down at him. "Are you trying to say that the only reason my mentor refused to take Lily on as a student was because of me?"
Wesley fell silent. That had indeed been his exact thought.
But the moment the idea surfaced, he forced it down.
He shouldn't project such pettiness onto a man like Professor Banks.
Standing on the stairs, Summer looked down at him with a glacial stare. "You severely underestimate my mentor, Dr. Whitmore. There is one, and only one, reason he didn't accept Lily: she didn't meet his standards. She was too incompetent, and he didn't see any potential in her."
Without waiting for his response, Summer turned and continued up the stairs.
