Vivian didn't mind at all, teasing lightly. "What's so important? More important than your absolute best friend?"
Summer laughed. "A blind date."
"What?"
"A blind date."
"You? On a blind date?"
Summer glanced at her watch. It was 11:20 AM, giving her exactly ten minutes until the agreed time.
"Let's reschedule for dinner tonight, and I'll give you all the juicy details then."
She hung up the phone just as a deep, familiar voice sounded from behind her.
"You're going on a blind date?"
She didn't even need to turn around to know it was Xavier, her insufferable ex.
Ignoring him completely, she continued following the waiter guiding her to the private room.
"Who are you meeting?" Xavier picked up his pace, catching up to her. "Silas Sinclair?"
Summer kept her eyes locked straight ahead. "I say, my dear ex, who I date is absolutely none of your business."
Xavier's eyes darkened aggressively. "You can date whoever you want, but absolutely not Silas Sinclair."
"Heh. Watch me."
"Summer!" Xavier reached out, grabbing her arm tightly.
"Hiss..." He had grabbed the exact spot where she had taken the whip strike during her kidnapping.
Xavier froze, instantly releasing his grip. "I didn't even squeeze."
Summer's face drained of color from the sharp jolt of pain. A fine layer of sweat broke out on her forehead as she rolled up her sleeve, revealing the vicious, angry welt. "You didn't squeeze, but you grabbed a literal open wound."
"I'm sorry."
"Is 'sorry' supposed to fix it?"
Without another word, Xavier pulled out his phone and transferred one million dollars to her account.
Summer rolled her sleeve back down and turned to continue walking toward her private room.
"Summer, does Leo know you're doing this? Does he agree with it? Will the guy even accept him? I won't stand by and let Leo be treated like a burden."
"You don't need to lose sleep over my son. Remember your place. And stop following me before Mrs. Sterling throws another tantrum and cries her eyes out, assuming you're still obsessing over your ex-wife."
Xavier stood there, watching her beautifully dressed silhouette walk away. After a brief two-second pause, he instructed his entourage to wait before casually, unhurriedly trailing right behind her.
The waiter opened the door to the VIP room. Summer took one step inside and instantly froze.
What on earth was Wesley Whitmore doing here?
He was the only person in the room.
