Zelda Sterling's cheek burned with a stinging pain; Summer Vance had slapped her with everything she had.
She glared viciously at Summer but didn't dare utter another out-of-line remark.
Pointing a trembling, condescending finger at Summer, she scoffed. "Just you wait, Summer. The Old Man has already decided to open the ancestral hall and officially remove Leo from the Sterling family registry."
"When the time comes, it'll be broadcasted all over the news. From then on, Leo will have absolutely nothing to do with the Sterlings, and he can forget about getting a single cent of our fortune!"
Summer chuckled softly and clapped her hands. "Thank God for that! That is fantastic news. Let me know when the ceremony is so I can buy fireworks and light up the entire city. I'll even buy a trending hashtag and keep him at the top of the news for three days straight."
Zelda hadn't expected this reaction. She froze for a moment before sneering, convinced Summer was just putting up a brave front. She figured Summer was probably dying of anxiety and rage on the inside.
After all, if Leo was removed from the family registry, he would no longer be considered a Sterling and couldn't enjoy any of their elite resources.
Everything belonging to the Sterlings would have nothing to do with him. He would lose his inheritance rights and wouldn't be able to take a single dime from the family.
Being struck from the registry was equivalent to severing all ties!
Summer knew Zelda didn't believe her. She sneered, "If you have the guts, Zelda, don't just talk about it. Let me know when the removal happens, I'll be waiting! Whoever backs out is a coward! Don't make me look down on you, Zelda!"
Leo Vance chimed in. "Mrs. Sterling, I'm waiting too. I've wanted to change my dad and grandparents for a long time now. I hope you don't let me down."
Zelda was so furious she practically hopped in place, looking like she might cough up blood. The moment she got back, she was going to make sure this happened!
Leo was already ruined anyway. There was no point in the Sterling family raising a useless cripple!
On the other side, Summer ordered a bodyguard to retrieve the security footage from earlier.
If Zelda tried to pull any tricks, the video would serve as solid evidence.
While Leo was doing his physical therapy, Tessa Thorne kept him company, and Summer stepped away for a moment.
Tiffany Miller's hospital room.
Tiffany was being discharged today. The whip wounds on her back had finally healed, and a bodyguard had helped process her release paperwork.
Summer pushed the door open and walked in. Tiffany smiled and called out, "Summer, I thought you weren't coming."
Summer handed her a bank card. "Thank you for handing over the recording of your conversation with Lilith Sutton. For my father's sake, consider the money on this card a free gift from me. From now on, we go our separate ways. If you run into trouble, don't come looking for me. I won't help you anyway, so take care of yourself."
Tiffany smiled and took the card. "Thank you, Summer."
Summer turned and left to find Leo and Tessa.
With the doctor's help, Leo was struggling to stand up, while Tessa continuously encouraged him from the side.
His forehead was covered in sweat, and his arms trembled violently, but his dark, bright eyes were filled with absolute determination.
Parents always wished for their children to be healthy and safe, free from illness and disaster. But undeniably, after enduring this ordeal, Leo's mind had matured and grown far more resilient than before.
It also made people's hearts ache for him even more.
