Substitute Wife, Genius CEO novel Chapter 389

While Xavier was hospitalized for a stomach bleed, Silas personally escorted Summer and Leo home.

Leo, sharp for his age, intentionally claimed he needed to go back to check on his little cat, Serenity, leaving Summer and Silas alone.

Silas lowered his gaze, his tone apologetic. "I'm sorry, Summer. I saw Xavier there earlier, so I didn't clarify things immediately. I didn't mean to cross a line. If it bothers you, I can call Director Vance and the others right now to clear it up."

Silas pulled out his phone and scrolled to his contacts.

Summer chuckled. "It's hard to say who's taking advantage of whom here."

Silas's handsome brows raised slightly. "Hmm?"

Summer replied, "I'm heading to Mr. Crawford's company tomorrow to discuss a partnership. Who knows, maybe he'll agree quickly just out of respect for the great CEO Sinclair."

"Is that so?" Silas laughed softly. His striking eyes sparkled like stars, radiating tenderness. "Then how about I just give him a call and finalize the partnership right now?"

"Please don't." Summer burst out laughing. Her eyes curved into crescents, her laughter crisp and melodious. She looked incredibly radiant and entirely relaxed.

"Just kidding," Silas said with a smile, putting his phone away. "Go inside." Even though the weather was warming up, the spring night air still held a chill.

Summer nodded. "Drive safely."

"Oh, right. Even though you had hangover tea, your head might still hurt when you wake up tomorrow. Remember to drink plenty of warm water, and have the housekeeper make you something light to eat. It'll soothe your stomach."

Hearing Summer's caring words, Silas felt his heart bubble with pure joy. His deep, striking eyes softened even more, carrying an endless stream of affection like a gentle spring breeze.

The next day, Summer went to Mr. Crawford's company to discuss their partnership.

The moment Mr. Crawford saw her, he immediately stood up to greet her with a wide smile. "Mrs. Sinclair, hello, hello! I didn't expect it to be you."

Summer smiled. "You're too polite, Mr. Crawford. Just call me by my name, Summer."

Mr. Crawford smoothly corrected himself. "Ms. Vance, please, have a seat."

The negotiations went incredibly smoothly. Summer's proposal was flawless, and coupled with the fact that she carried the title of 'Mrs. Sinclair,' the contract was signed on the spot.

Silas timed his message perfectly: [Did you secure the deal?]

The notification popped up on her phone screen just as Mr. Crawford happened to glance over. He chuckled and said, "You and Mr. Sinclair clearly have a wonderful relationship."

Summer laughed it off awkwardly. "We do alright."

After signing the contract, Mr. Crawford insisted on treating her to a meal.

Unable to decline, Summer went along. Once at the restaurant, she found a moment to reply to Silas: [Signed. Right when you texted, Mr. Crawford happened to see it. He misunderstood even more.]

Silas replied almost instantly: [That's perfect. He'll take the project much more seriously during the execution phase.]

A boss's attitude dictated the employees' attitudes.

If the CEO valued the project, his subordinates would naturally prioritize it too. It meant the partnership would proceed much smoother, and she wouldn't have to worry about the other side causing trouble.
