The next morning.
Leo tagged along with Silas to the Sinclair Group headquarters, while Summer headed to the hospital.
Since Lilith was the acting CEO of Sutton Group, her hospitalization naturally required a formal visit from the executive team.
Summer had eagerly volunteered to be the one to deliver the company's regards.
She deliberately purchased a lavishly wrapped bouquet of red spider lilies.
With stark black wrapping paper contrasting against the blood-red blooms, the florist had admittedly done a stunning job.
However, bringing them to a hospital was aggressively morbid. The flowers symbolized death and parting, and the sheer sight of them radiated an oppressive, hopeless aura.
Xavier was there as well, having faithfully spent the entire night by Lilith's side like a devoted husband.
Seeing Summer walk in, he immediately scowled. "What are you doing here?"
Summer gestured to the floral arrangement in her arms. "I'm here representing the executive board to wish her a speedy recovery. What else would I be doing?"
Xavier stared at the bouquet, his frown deepening as an uneasy feeling washed over him.
"What kind of flowers are those?" Xavier demanded coldly. "Throw them out!"
Summer casually brushed a finger against the crimson petals. "They're beautiful, aren't they? I picked them out myself."
Lilith's face turned livid. "Summer, what is the meaning of bringing me spider lilies? They symbolize the beauty of death. Are you cursing me to die?"
Summer feigned complete innocence. "I never said that. I just thought they looked striking and hoped they might cheer you up so you'd recover faster. Why would you assume something so vicious? I had the best intentions. I even pushed back a meeting with a vendor just to come see you."
"Oh, by the way, just a friendly reminder. As the acting CEO of Sutton Group, if you're stuck in this bed for too long, the board is definitely going to get restless—especially Dexter Whitmore."
