Substitute Wife, Genius CEO novel Chapter 428

Silas seized the opportunity. "We can do a barbecue at my place. Hot pot, roasted lamb—I just brought back those goats, after all."

Summer looked at him in surprise. "You actually brought them back? I thought you were joking."

"I'm serious," Silas replied. "I tried the local lamb there; the meat is incredibly tender without any gamey taste. It was fantastic, so I wanted to bring some back for all of you to try."

After Lance left, Silas drove Summer home.

Summer had her own security, but Silas insisted on escorting her, claiming he was worried Xavier might retaliate.

When they arrived at her front door, Summer asked politely, "Would you like to come in for a bit? Leo is home."

Naturally, Silas wasn't going to turn down the offer. Grabbing the gifts he had bought for her and her son, he followed Summer inside.

Hearing the commotion, Leo assumed his mother was home and wheeled himself over to the entryway.

His face lit up when he saw Silas. "Dad Silas! You're back from your trip!"

Silas slipped on a pair of guest slippers and handed the boy his present.

"What is it?" Thrilled to receive a gift, Leo tore into the packaging right there in the hallway.

Inside was a silver longevity lock. It wasn't impeccably crafted, but it had Leo's name carefully engraved on the front.

"I visited a traditional silversmith's workshop on my trip and learned how to make it," Silas explained. "It's not perfect, but it's meant to keep you safe."

What Silas didn't mention was that he had specifically taken the charm to a highly revered local temple to be blessed, tying it securely to a crimson cord.

The fact that Silas had made it with his own hands deeply moved Leo, and he instantly cherished it.

"Thank you, Dad Silas. I love it," Leo said, immediately slipping the necklace over his head.

Silas affectionately ruffled the boy's hair, while Summer went to the kitchen to prepare a hangover remedy for him.

They had been drinking at dinner, and she wanted to make sure he didn't wake up with a headache.

Taking the cup from her, Silas offered her the second gift bag. "This is for you. I just threw it together, so it's not worth much. I hope you don't mind."

Anything handcrafted by a man like Silas was inherently priceless, given that his time was literally worth thousands of dollars a minute.

Even if the jewelry he had forged was entirely misshapen, the sentiment alone made it invaluable.

The gift was a silver bracelet. At first glance, the metalwork was a bit raw and unpolished, but it was embedded with several brilliant red gemstones.

The stunning gems elevated the rough-hewn silver, transforming it into a uniquely chic piece.

And those rubies were easily worth a small fortune.

Leo eagerly urged, "Try it on, Mom! It's going to look so pretty on you."

Against Summer's luminous skin, the bracelet looked absolutely stunning—exactly as Silas had pictured it.
