Xander's eyes were completely unfazed, his tone calm and level, yet somehow, Xavier felt completely ridiculed under that gaze.
A sudden flash of shame washed over him, and he awkwardly broke eye contact.
Logic aside, the real issue was that Summer held full custody of Leo.
The dispute inevitably made its way to Carlson Sterling.
After pondering the situation, Carlson announced, "Xander, you can give the boy your real estate, luxury cars, cash, properties, and antiques. I won't bat an eye. But you absolutely cannot touch those Sterling Group shares!"
Zelda Sterling nodded frantically, urging her son. "Exactly! You can't just throw away the company's equity! That ungrateful little brat isn't worth you completely emptying your pockets."
"What if he turns around and gives the shares to Summer, or sells them straight to Silas Sinclair? It would cripple the entire company! Don't be rash, Xander. Think this through."
Xavier added grimly, "Summer is incredibly close to Silas now. Leo even calls him 'Dad'."
"What?!" Xander was genuinely stunned. This was the first he was hearing of it.
How had this happened?
Fearing Xander wouldn't believe him, Xavier pushed further. "Summer even dragged Leo into it, helping Silas sabotage a deal we were closing. And last night, she was out at The Gilded Table, having dinner with Silas."
Xander's brow furrowed slightly, his expression growing unreadably cold and quiet as his mind raced.
Xavier pressed on. "If you really want a son that badly, I can let you adopt Landon or Logan. Hell, if you want both of them, they're yours."
Xander finally spoke, his voice completely flat. "I don't want a son. I just like Leo." What he really meant was that he liked Summer.
A man didn't just casually step in to play father to another man's son without a very specific reason.
Every seemingly absurd action had an underlying motive.
Silas wouldn't treat Leo like his own flesh and blood merely to antagonize the Sterling family.
