If Lydia continued acting like a lunatic, perhaps she needed to be committed to a sanitarium for proper treatment too.
As the thought crossed Bennett's mind, a flicker of ruthless calculation flashed in his eyes.
At the Sterling Group.
By the time Xavier returned to headquarters, Xander Sterling and Arthur Sterling had already stabilized the corporate chaos.
They had managed to control the public relations fallout and temporarily halted the plummeting stock prices.
Once the executives were dismissed, only the three of them remained in the CEO's office.
*Smack!*
Furious, Arthur delivered a brutal slap across Xavier's face. "That Lilith is a goddamn leech! Just how long are you going to let her drag you down?!"
"Look at this yourself!" Arthur hurled a thick stack of data reports right at Xavier's face.
The papers scattered like dead butterflies, fluttering to the floor.
In dead silence, Xavier crouched down and began picking up the pages one by one.
Xander watched him quietly, saying nothing.
The Sterling Group's stock had taken severe hits multiple times recently, and every single crash traced directly back to Lilith.
Fuming, Arthur pulled out a cigarette. Xander stepped forward and gently plucked it from his fingers. "Dad, stop smoking."
Arthur gave him a look but didn't argue. Instead, he grabbed his strong tea, took a heavy gulp, and barked, "If you refuse to divorce Lilith, then hand the company over to your brother. You are stepping down immediately, before your mess drags the Sterling family completely under."
Xander frowned. If he took over the company, he would be buried in work day and night.
He had been completely disconnected from society for nearly eight years. The modern world was evolving at breakneck speed. To catch up and effectively manage an empire of this scale, he would need an enormous amount of time and energy.
He was confident he could do it.
But taking the helm meant he would have absolutely no time to pursue his own happiness.
Having practically died once already, Xander wanted to finally live for himself. He wanted to chase the happiness he had been denied.
