Bennett was so infuriated by both Lilith and Dexter that his face drained of all color. He pressed his hands desperately against his chest, gasping violently as his breathing grew terrifyingly shallow.

Scarlett was incredibly dedicated to her role.

She had been beaten severely. Both sides of her face were so swollen even her own mother wouldn't recognize her, blood trickled from the corner of her mouth, and she had even lost a tooth.

Bodyguards stood watch outside the private ward while Summer handed a large bouquet of flowers to Scarlett.

"Thank you for the compliment." Scarlett accepted the flowers, inhaled their scent, and then pulled a five-million-dollar check from among the petals.

Summer said, "This is your compensation."

It was a full two million dollars more than they had originally agreed upon. Scarlett was thrilled. "Thank you so much, Ms. Vance."

"You earned every penny."

Scarlett asked, "What do you want me to do next, Ms. Vance?"

"To protect his family's reputation and the company's stock, Bennett will definitely beg you to settle the case out of court. I want you to quit and refuse the settlement. Once you're healed up, take a long vacation. Go anywhere you want—all expenses paid."

Scarlett smiled gratefully. "Thank you, Boss!"

Scarlett had filed a police report on the spot.

The police had confiscated the office's security footage, which clearly showed Lilith launching a completely unprovoked, one-sided assault on Scarlett. The evidence was irrefutable.

Lilith had ruptured Scarlett's eardrum and knocked out one of her teeth, and throughout the entire ordeal, Scarlett hadn't fought back once.
