Substitute Wife, Genius CEO novel Chapter 533

Summer Vance didn't attend the dinner. The seat next to Xavier Sterling remained empty, with a gift for Leo Vance placed on it.

Xavier drank heavily, accepting a glass from anyone who offered.

After the dinner, Xavier headed to Summer's villa community.

The security guard at the gate notified Summer.

"Ms. Vance, Mr. Sterling says he's your son's father. He came to drop off a gift for the young man."

Summer frowned, a wave of confusion hitting her. Hadn't Xander Sterling said he was running a fever?

That was until she saw Xavier.

Summer's expression iced over instantly. She turned to leave, but Xavier strode after her, holding the gift. "Summer, I'm just here to give Leo his present."

Summer glared at him with utter disgust. "Are you out of your mind, Xavier? If you're sick, go see a doctor."

"And another thing—you are not Leo's father anymore. He disowned you a long time ago. At best, you're his uncle. Please learn your place."

"I know. I just..." Xavier lowered his head, his eyes brimming with guilt, agony, and regret.

Looking at Summer's freezing gaze, he suddenly didn't know what to say, or if there was anything left to say at all.

It seemed no words were appropriate, and none would help.

But he truly regretted it. He just wanted a chance to make amends.

"I'm sorry, Summer. I was a monster before. I was a complete bastard, worse than an animal. I apologize for everything I've done to you."

Summer's expression didn't soften in the slightest. Her eyes remained glacial. "I don't need it, Xavier."

"You do, you do," Xavier said anxiously. "When I make a mistake, I have to apologize. I'm sorry, I'm so incredibly sorry, Summer. I know I was wrong. Please, just give me one chance to fix this, okay?"

Summer let out a scoff. "Do you think this is a video game, Xavier? That you can just hit restart when you mess up? Let me tell you, not every mistake in this world gets a second chance."
