Xavier really had sent people to monitor her. She couldn't let him know she was fleeing the country.
Lilith snapped harshly, "Find a way to lose them!"
Paige had some genuine skills behind the wheel and quickly managed to shake them off.
Meanwhile, the black sedan that had lost their trail pulled over.
The driver called Miles Sutton. "Sorry, Boss. We got made. We lost them."
Miles replied evenly, "It's fine. You'll still get paid as promised."
The driver had no idea that Miles had hired several different teams to trail Lilith.
Even if one team lost her, the others were still on it, so he wasn't worried in the slightest.
What Miles didn't know was that his men had inadvertently helped clear Paige of all suspicion.
Only then did Lilith finally believe that Paige hadn't tipped anyone off the night before.

Exactly as Lilith had predicted, the moment she was gone, Xavier shifted his deadly focus entirely to Bennett.
The teahouse.
Tea steam curled through the air, filling the private room with a fragrant aroma.
It was meant to be a relaxing atmosphere, yet Bennett felt profoundly uneasy right now.
He couldn't figure out why, out of nowhere, Xavier had invited him out for tea.
And calling it an 'invitation' was a stretch—there was nothing polite about this summons.
He looked at Xavier cautiously, forcing a stiff smile onto his face. "Mr. Sterling, to what do I owe the pleasure?"
Xavier cast him a glacial sidelong glance. "Transfer every single company under your name to Summer."
"What?!" Bennett's voice spiked in utter shock.
Even Scarlett Pierce, who was sitting nearby, looked over at Xavier in sheer astonishment.
Xavier continued to eye him coldly, asking breezily, "Do you have a problem with that?"
