Summer had been stressing about how to repay him, so hearing Silas say this, she naturally agreed with a smile. Repaying Silas Sinclair's favor with a meal was an absolute bargain for her.
After all, Silas had immense wealth and power; he lacked nothing. If she bought him a gift, something cheap would be insulting, and something expensive would bankrupt her.
Treating him to dinner was by far the easiest route.
Moreover, outsiders needed to book appointments well in advance just to get a business lunch with corporate titans like Silas, and even then, they rarely succeeded.
Since they were already on the topic, Summer casually asked, "When are you free, Mr. Sinclair?"
Her phone chimed. Taking advantage of a red light, Summer opened the message. It was a copy of Silas's schedule.
Summer was surprised. "Mr. Sinclair, are you sure I'm allowed to see this? Aren't you worried I might sell your itinerary?"
Silas countered, "Would you?"
"I wouldn't dare," Summer laughed.
Silas's schedule was packed tight. The only opening was Saturday evening. She asked, "Mr. Sinclair, how about Saturday night?"
Silas agreed. "Sure."
Summer then asked about his flavor preferences and dietary restrictions, resolving to find a highly-rated restaurant once she got back.
With the plans settled, Summer hung up, drove back to the office, and returned Gavin's car keys.
Once she threw herself back into work, time flew by. In the blink of an eye, it was 5:00 PM.
It was the new hires' first day, so the company organized a welcome dinner. It was a gesture of goodwill meant to help old and new employees bond and collaborate smoothly in the future.
Company policy dictated that everyone could clock out at 5:00 PM on dinner party days.
However, Summer needed to pick up Leo from kindergarten first.
She headed downstairs to hail a cab.
A moment later, a customized G-Wagon pulled up beside her.
Summer looked down at her ride-hailing app. Did she just book a G-Wagon?
Which rich kid was driving a luxury SUV as an Uber to experience the real world?
Wait, no...
Summer raised an eyebrow. "Aren't you a little old for that?"
"It's a welcome gift for my little buddy. I can't show up empty-handed the first time we meet, right?" Jude said, taking it quite seriously.
While Jude bought the snack, Summer headed to the school gates to pick up Leo.
To her absolute shock, the incredibly busy Xavier Sterling was personally picking up Hunter.
He had never once picked up Leo.
Leo was always chauffeured by the staff from the main estate.
But Leo was just a kid. Seeing other children being picked up by their parents made him secretly envious.
He had brought it up a few times, but Summer was always the only one who showed up for him.
Xavier was busy. He never had the time.
Now she realized it wasn't about not having time; it was about whether he cared enough to make time.
Xavier handed a caramel apple to Hunter. Crouching in front of the boy, he gently ruffled his hair, asking how kindergarten went, if the teachers were nice, and if he had made any friends.
