Chapter 21
Mindy crossed the distance a few quick steps and gave Dora’s shoulder an affectionate pat. Her gaze, full of open appreciation and teasing, moved from Clive to Elmer, who could be vaguely seen in the distance peeking over this way.
She commented, “That’s more like it. A pretty, sweet female like you shouldn’t be living out here alone. Way too dangerous.” She leaned closer to Dora and lowered her voice, enough for Clive to hear. “Good taste, girl. This one is handsome and fierce. And that guy by the white tent is sunny and cutes
Dora’s cheeks went bright red. She waved her hands in a panic and tried to explain, “Oh, no, it’s not… I mean, this is Clive, and he… We…
For a moment, she had no idea how to introduce her relationship with Clive. Calling him her beast mate felt too strange. Calling him a friend was not right either. She got stuck halfway, so anxious that even her nose started to sweat.
Clive spoke up, his tone polite but firm. “We just moved in next door. My wife is young, so there are many things she doesn’t understand yet.
“She was lucky to have your generous help yesterday. Please accept this.”
He handed over the old tent bag, along with a small sealed box that looked like some decent–quality nutrient drinks. “It’s not much, but we appreciate it.”
Mindy’s beast mate glanced at Mindy. After she nodded, he accepted the tent and box with both hands.
He replied in a gentle tone, “Oh, it’s no biggie. Neighbors should help each other. I’m Jaxsen, and this is my wife, Mindy.
“Since we’re neighbors now, just let us know if you need anything”
Only then did Dora remember that she had not formally introduced herself. “I’m Dora. Mindy, Jaxsen, thank you. And please say thanks to Rock too.”
Mindy smiled and nodded. Her gaze moved over Dora’s flushed face, then landed on Clive’s gesture of subtly guarding Dora with a calm face.
Mindy seemed to understand the situation and stopped teasing Dora. Instead, she said warmly, “Dora, come over anytime. Now that you’ve got such reliable beast mates, I won’t have to worry about your safety anymore.”
Dora forced a smile and nodded, trying hard to ignore how strange the words “beast mates” made her feel.

To ease the awkwardness and also to show her sincere grautude, she instinctively used the kind of social habit she had grown up with on Blue Planet.
She blurted out, “Mindy, you really helped us so much. We just moved here, and nothing is set up yet. We don’t have any proper gifts ready. Once we’re settled, I’ll invite your family over for dinner. I’ll cook myself.”
She spoke earnestly, her eyes bright with a naive sincerity.
The moment the words left her mouth, the air went quiet for a beat.
Mindy and Jaxsen both looked at Dora in surprise.
In this world, females were precious. Most of them were carefully provided for by males and rarely needed to handle
housework themselves.

Chapter 21
Ahemale personally offering to cook for guests was an extremely rare, almost old–fashioned way of showing closeness and gratitude.
Besides, males usually ate food produced by their own female’s Spatial Realm. Eating food from another female’s Spatial Realm couldn’t help them absorb crystal energy, so it was considered a waste.
Besides, the output from a female’s Spatial Realm was usually barely enough to maintain her own family’s crystal energy. Most females would never take it out to treat outsiders.
Only people with extremely close ties, or certain noble families that still kept ancient traditions, would spend a fortune on those bland, overpriced foods made with interstellar technology and serve them to guests.
Mindy unconsciously looked Clive over. She thought, ‘He’s so young, but his pressure is already this strong. His genes must be excellent. Does that mean Dora’s Spatial Realm is already high–level at such a young age?‘
Clive also glanced sideways at Dora, thinking, Cook herself? With what? Her Spatial Realm doesn’t produce anything. Is she going to treat the guests with nutrient drinks?
Only after Dora said it did she realize this was not Blue Planet anymore.
After a brief moment of surprise, Mindy’s smile grew even brighter, with a hint of delighted shock. “Oh, that sounds great. We’ll bring our ingredients someday, and you cook them. I’d love to try your cooking.”
Clearly, Mindy took it as Dora’s unique and especially sincere way of showing goodwill, and her fondness for this new neighbor shot up even more.
Jaxsen pushed up his glasses and smiled, “Sounds great. We’re looking forward to that, Dora.”
Dora secretly let out a breath, though the awkward heat on her face hadn’t fully faded.
Remembering the difficulties Mindy had mentioned, Dora changed the subject. “Right, Mindy, when you applied for your homestead, you needed a lot of materials to build a house too, didn’t you? Do you have to go to the training zone often to find them?”
At that, Mindy’s smile faded a little, and she sighed, “Don’t get me started. The government only gives us the land and turns on the basic shield. Everything else is on our own.
“Building materials, energy sources, protective devices… some can be bought with starcoins, but some you have to gather yourself in the training zone, or trade for at the mission hall.
“For now, we’ve mostly been finding the basic stuff in the Comprehensive Combat Zone.”

Mindy looked at Dora, then glanced at the silent but impossible–to–ignore Clive beside her, and at Elmer in the distance, who was still trying hard to look this way despite being suppressed by Clive’s presence.
An idea formed in Mindy’s mind, and she suggested, “Dora, you just moved here, so you’ll definitely need a lot of materials and starcoins to build a place.
