Dora’s face lit up. “That’s perfect, Mindy. We were thinking the exact same thing. How about we team up and go togethe That way we can watch each other’s backs.”

Mindy beamed. “Oh, I’d love that. Couldn’t ask for anything better. Plus, if we register as a team for the Training Zone’s designated missions, they give out bonus rewards.”

“Seriously? That’s amazing.” Dora rubbed her hands together, barely containing her excitement.

“On our end…” She gestured toward Clive, Elmer, and Lioren, who sat perched on the armrest of her chair. “We can hold own in a fight.”

The understatement was classic Dora.

Clive gave a slight nod, his quiet way of signing on.

Elmer puffed out his chest. “We’ll keep you safe, Dora, Mindy. Count on us.”

Mindy’s family was more than happy to agree, and they all nodded eagerly.

Mindy said, “My beast mates‘ supernatural ability levels aren’t anything special. Rock and Jaxsen only just hit Level 3, an Milo’s at the peak of Level 3, so we’ve never had the nerve to go.

But wet season is almost here, and our house still needs a ton of work, so we figured we’d take the risk this time.

If you and your guys don’t mind, Dora, that’d be amazing. Our levels may be low, but we’ve got solid experience.”

She laid all of this out up front so there would be no surprises once they teamed up.

My little cat may look small, but he packs a real punch in a fight. What we actually lack is Training Zone experience, so eaming up would be a win for both sides.”

Mindy squeezed Dora’s hand, grateful and fully aware that Dora was doing this partly as a favor. “How about we head out hree days?

The weather looks rough, and we’ll probably get a heavy storm today or tomorrow. That gives us a couple days to stock ›n supplies and food for the trip.”

Dora nodded, her face flushed. “It’s about upgrading a female’s Spatial Realm. I’ve been absorbing crystal cores, but nothing seems to change at all, and I don’t know how the upgrade is supposed to work”

Dora’s cheeks warmed, and she mumbled, “It’s complicated. We haven’t, um, made it official yet.”

Mmdy gave her a knowing look, pulled her close, and leaned in to whisper with the rapid–fire urgency of someone who had been through it all before, half teasing, half dead serious.

“Oh, sweetie. The most important thing about a female’s Spatia! Realm upgrade is deep bonding with a compatible beast

mate.

“Energy transfer, life resonance, full body–and–soul connection. The first time with a beast mate is when the real shift happens, and the stronger the beast mate, the higher the level boost.”

She flicked her gaze toward the males. “Especially yours. Young, powerful, supernatural ability off the charts.” Mindy winked. “Each one of ‘em should give you one hell of a surprise.”

Then her expression turned serious. “After you upgrade, stabilize first before you even think about round two. Don’t rush it. Absorbing crystal cores on your own does next to nothing, so stop wasting your resources and get to it, Dora.”

She patted Dora on the shoulder, shot her a you–know–what–l–mean look, and strolled off with a grin. Dora stood rooted to the spot, her ears burning red and her head buzzing like a kicked hive.

“Deep bonding. Energy transfer. Body–and–soul connection. The words hammered at her brain like tiny mallets, she thought, each one louder than the last.

She had always suspected the Spatial Realm upgrade involved males somehow, but she never imagined it would be this direct. Or this intimate.

A tall shadow fell over her while she stood there, cheeks on fire, still trying to process that bombshell.
