Swapping a Broken Heart for a New Start novel Chapter 1175

Dennis’s voice cut through the room, clear and commanding. If you knew him at all, you knew he wasn’t bluffing.

“That’s impossible...” Jordan stared at Dennis, refusing to believe it. But the documents in front of him felt real, the numbers impossible to fake.

He finished reading, still stunned, and tossed the file onto the table in angry denial. “Dennis Williams, is this really what you’ve sunk to? Using tricks like this to push me away from them? That’s low, even for you.”

Dennis’s eyes were cold, almost icy. “I’m nothing like you. I would never risk her safety. My patience has limits, Jordan. Do yourself a favor and get back to Harrisburg, now.”

With that, Dennis stood up and walked out, not giving Jordan another glance.

Aaron hung back, his tone heavy with sarcasm as he looked at Jordan. “You had your chance, Mr. Smith. Who are you pretending for now? If you have any dignity left, you should know when it’s time to walk away. She’s happy now. Clinging on when you don’t matter anymore is just sad. You’ve hurt Ms. Davis enough already. If she ever recovers, I’m sure the last thing she’ll want is to see you again.”

He didn’t wait for a reply, turning and leaving the room.

Jordan sat there, staring at the file, his face drained of color. How did it come to this? All he wanted was to bring her back and make things right, to heal the pain he’d caused. He never meant to hurt her again. So why, after everything, was she now in danger because of him?

He closed his eyes, trying to hide the pain that twisted inside him.

Nathan stood nearby, uncertain of what to say. Honestly, Mr. Williams and his assistant had a point. Sandra Taylor had nearly killed Camila. The Smith family’s attempt to keep her had backfired horribly. That drug—he couldn’t believe the risk. Looking at it from Dennis’s side, or the Davis family’s, being tied to his boss was nothing but trouble.

Of course, Nathan couldn’t say that out loud. When Jordan still didn’t move, he finally broke the silence. “Sir, what should we do now?”

Jordan opened his eyes, his expression hard and distant. “That report has to be fake,” he said, stubbornness written all over his face. “Dennis Williams is just trying to force me out.”

Nathan hesitated, then offered, “If you don’t trust it, I can send it to the overseas team we hired, let them take a look.”
