No one wanted to pay attention to Professor Keri now. Everyone’s focus was completely on the antidote.
Abner Young was the first to break the silence. “Alright, let’s get started.”
Camila nodded, then turned and caught Dennis Williams looking at her. He squeezed her hand, gentle and reassuring. “Don’t worry, Camila. I’ll be waiting for you right here.”
“Okay.” Just hearing him say that, the last of her worries melted away. She took a deep breath, steeling herself as she walked into the medical room with her mentor.
This time, Mr. Morris and Jarvis Peters would be right by her side, monitoring her every step. Knowing they were there helped Dennis relax, at least a little. Once everyone was inside, the door shut quietly and Dennis was left outside, waiting and hoping.

Elsewhere, in Harrisburg, Audrey Williams was finally being discharged from the hospital. After her medication and a day of rest, she looked and felt just like her usual self.
Douglas Williams and Charlotte Kelly had already made all the arrangements by the time she was ready to go. Everything was packed, and their plan was to take her straight back home to Cabinda.
When Walter Wilson came to pick her up, Audrey looked like she wanted to stay a little longer. She almost asked her parents if she could stick around for a few more days, maybe even leave for Cabinda with Walter, but Charlotte seemed to know exactly what was on her mind.
“Your dad and I just got word—the antidote is ready, and Camila’s starting her treatment today. We should head back now. That way, Jordan Smith won’t have to worry about you too.”
Audrey couldn’t protest after hearing that.
Walter spoke up, understanding the situation. “I’ll take everyone to the airport today.”
Palmer and Leda came as well, wanting to see Audrey off. When Charlotte mentioned Camila, Leda immediately grew concerned. “Will Camila be safe?”
Charlotte smiled warmly, her tone comforting. “She’ll be alright. There are so many experienced experts watching over her at the institute. It’s just hard to say how long the treatment will take.”
No one said it, but everyone was silently worried about whether the new drug would actually work. Douglas and Charlotte especially didn’t want to imagine if something happened to Camila, knowing Dennis would probably have the hardest time coping. They wanted to be there in case he needed support, to remind him that family would always have his back.
Inside, Dennis was feeling the wait more than anyone else. Camila’s treatment was far more complicated than taking a pill. Since it was the first time the antidote was being used on a real person, she had to be kept under strict observation with the institute’s top experts monitoring her, in case the drug caused any adverse effects.
Their presence was a safety net, ready to step in at the first sign of trouble between the drug and her immune system. The whole process was painstakingly thorough. Dennis wasn’t even allowed inside; all he could do was wait, hoping for the best.
Time crawled by. The hours seemed endless. Finally, sometime after eleven at night, the medical room doors opened at last.
Dennis jumped up, rushing over, face full of anxiety. “Master, Camila... how is she? Is she okay? Did the antidote work?”
His voice was tighter with worry than anyone had ever heard before.
