Chapter 236 The Bathroom Confrontation
The way he looked at her made Diana blush from the roots of her hair to the tips of her toes.
Brian was a rare find–handsome, well–off, and, most importantly, exceptionally skilled in bed. The full package.

“Ms. Williams, why is your face so red just putting on a cooling patch? Do you have a fever?” Brian grumbled, his voice rough.
He was genuinely annoyed. He’d been calling her for days with no answer, and she’d ignored all his messages.
He was feeling thoroughly neglected.
Once you’ve tasted the feast, plain fare just doesn’t cut it.
His eyes darkened, and he shifted his leg uncomfortably.
Diana shot him a glare and gave his heated cheek a light pat. “Just be quiet!”
Then she leaned over and pressed the cooling patch firmly to his forehead.
The familiar scent of her perfume washed over him.
After being with her for so long, he knew that fragrance intimately–it was the very thing that haunted his nights.
His gaze dropped to the soft curves of her body, and his Adam’s apple bobbed involuntarily.
He squeezed his eyes shut.
Restraint. He had to show restraint!
“Sit up. You need to take this.” Without waiting for a reply, Diana carefully helped him into a sitting position.
Brian didn’t resist. If his fever spiked any higher, he’d probably start seeing things.
He half–reclined against the sofa cushions, his shirt hanging open with only a few buttons fastened–a picture of disheveled, wicked appeal.
Diana didn’t look away, her gaze tracing the lines of his defined chest.
Brian took the pills and water from her and swallowed them down.
Then, he tugged his shirt closed. “Ms. Williams, are you trying to test my patience here?”
Diana averted her eyes. After all these days apart, she wanted him–badly–but she was terrified of losing control.
“I should go,” she said flatly.
“Fine.” Brian didn’t try to stop her, just turned over as if to sleep again.
Diana’s frown deepened. “At least eat something. Your clothes are damp. You need to shower before you sleep.”
“I thought you were leaving. Why the sudden concern?”

‘m the last person who saw you alive. If you die, I don’t want to be a suspect!”
“Don’t worry, Ms. Williams. I’m not dying. You can leave.”
Diana was almost trembling with frustration!
“Fine! What do you want?” Dianá narrowed her eyes
Brian paused, then said, “My hand hurts too much. Help me wash up.”
“In your dreams!”
She grabbed a throw pillow and hurled it at him. He didn’t dodge, and it struck his injured wrist.
“Tsk-” He hissed through his teeth, his brow furrowing in pain.
Diana immediately snatched the pillow back and checked his wrist. “You idiot! Why didn’t you move?”
“Couldn’t dodge it, Ms. Williams,” Brian said, a faint, pained smile touching his lips.

Diana was no match for his stubbornness. Catching the strong smell of liniment on his wrist, she reluctantly agreed to help him clean up.
A barely perceptible smile tugged at Brian’s lips.
It wasn’t like they hadn’t showered together before, but now that she was keeping her distance, a shared shower would be a line
crossed.
Still, a sponge bath was a start.
Inside the bathroom…”
“Take it off,” Diana instructed, holding a clean towel, standing directly in front of him.
Brian stood well over six feet tall, while Diana was around five–seven–a perfect difference.
Frowning, he worked the remaining buttons of his shirt open with one hand. There weren’t many fastened to begin with, and in moments, his sculpted chest and abdomen were fully exposed.
Diana forced herself to maintain a neutral expression, as if this were routine.
Brian saw right through her.
The tips of her ears were burning crimson.
His long fingers went to his belt buckle. With a soft click, the clasp at his waist loosened.
Then he undid the button and lowered the zipper.
A jolt of panic shot through Diana, but she refused to let it show.
Brian let out a low, knowing chuckle.
Her eyes were full of unconcealed hunger, even as she pretended to be unaffected.
