Chapter 237 Testing the Waters
“We’re not right for each other” she said.
“How do we know unless we give it a shot?” Brian closed the distance between them again.
Diana’s breath hitched; she felt utterly powerless to push him away,
“Just… give me a chance. Let’s try this. If it works out, we’ll make it official. If it doesn’t, I’ll leave you alone for good.”

Brian couldn’t take Damian’s advice about playing it cool–it just wasn’t in his nature. The woman in front of him had completely thrown him off his game. Staying calm or holding back was out of the question.
He waited for her response, forcing himself not to reach for her again. He even took a small step back, putting a little space between them, and let go of her hand.
Diana didn’t answer. Instead, she picked up the towel, moved behind him, and began drying his back carefully. When she was done, she rinsed the towel under warm water once more.
Then’she turned and handed it to him.
Brian took it quietly, unsure what was going through her mind.
She knelt down and helped him out of his sweatpants, her cheeks flushing. It had been a while since she’d seen him like this, and he was just as… impressive as she remembered.
Pushing past her own embarrassment, she wiped his legs thoroughly, not avoiding any part of him.
Brian’s eyes grew heavier. Whatever restraint he had left was now completely gone.
A low groan escaped him.
“You’re losing control, Brian,” Diana remarked casually as she set the towel aside, letting her fingers brush against him lightly.
Brian’s knees nearly buckled.
‘Diana… that’s not fair,” he said, his voice rough and strained, holding himself together by a thread.
“Hmm, you’re right. It really isn’t fair.”

She washed out the towel, picked up fresh clothes from the rack, and dressed him, buttoning his shirt all the way to the top. Her expression was almost challenging, as if daring him to do something about it. Her movements weren’t gentle–if anything, they grew more brisk and impatient.
Brian let out a soft laugh but didn’t interfere.
After that, Diana helped him into his trousers.
“Alright, let’s get you out there,” she said.
Brian followed obediently out of the bathroom. The fever reducer had kicked in, and he was feeling much clearer–headed, Without another word, he sat at the dining table and ate the late–night snack Diana had brought over.

He ate slowly, watching her the whole time, emotions swirling inside him.

Diana sat on the sofa with her arms crossed, waiting until he was nearly finished before standing to leave. She left the key on the
counter behind her.
The moment the door clicked shut, Brian’s hand stilled. His appetite vanished completely.
She hadn’t even said goodbye–no words, no hint of reluctance whatsoever.
He texted Damian, “You owe me.”
Damian replied almost instantly, a smirk in his words, “In your dreams.”
He’d known Brian wouldn’t be able to keep his cool–chasing after her was just his nature. At least she’d come over tonight, which meant something was still there.
Then Damian called Maddox.
“You idiot, did you have any idea what that woman was planning?”

Maddox was in bed, exhausted and half–asleep, but Damian’s voice jolted him awake.
“Mr. Cross, I’m sorry–I really didn’t know that was her intention. Besides, it all worked out fine, right? With your charm, what’s there to worry about?”
“I’m worried you don’t value your life enough.”
Maddox shivered on the other end of the line.
Damian hung up and tossed his phone aside.
Isabelle, who’d been sleeping face down beside him, stirred slightly. She turned over, mumbled something in her sleep, and drifted off again.
Well, it was normal for people to be drawn to her–Isabelle was stunning. He needed to make it clear to everyone that she was already taken.
Gently, he lifted the thin blanket, slid underneath, and pulled her into his arms.
“Sweetheart…
“Isabelle…”
“Mmm, Damian… let me rest a little,” she murmured, frowning and nudging him away with her shoulder.
It hadn’t even been twenty minutes since the last time. Her body was still soft and relaxed, not fully recovered yet.
Damian put on a pitiful look.
Isabelle half–opened her eyes, still mostly asleep. “Damian, take it easy…”
“I can’t. You deal with him—Freally can’t control it.” He rested his chin on top of her head.
“Keep it up and I’ll kick you off the bed,” she replied flatly.

For a long time after that, Damian and Brian were swamped with the company’s IPO preparations, leaving early and coming back late, barely scraping by on six hours of sleep a day.
Soon enough, the autonomous vehicle company went public, and the entire team at Cypher Group was thrilled.
Damian handed out bonuses across every department and threw a celebration banquet, inviting key staff as well as prominent figures from both inside and outside the industry.
The event was held at Mountain Roots Estate.
They’d booked out the entire property. Guests started arriving and checking in early in the morning, though the main banquet wasn’t scheduled to begin until 6 PM.
Damian and Brian were still tied up at the office until late afternoon.
Isabelle, Diana, and their friends arrived at the estate early to relax and explore the grounds.
Sienna and her so–called husband, Blaze, were there too, along with Maddox, who’d naturally invited himself–mostly to stick close to Diana.
Only the outdoor areas of the estate were open to guests at that point; the indoor spaces were still being prepared and decorated for the evening.
So, they spent their time wandering the expansive outdoor grounds. The estate featured a large heated swimming pool and several small private hot springs. Many guests had come prepared to swim or soak, having been told ahead of time to bring their swimwear.
