Chapter 417 It Was Silly
When the sun set, he’d remember the mountain they climbed together just to watch the sunset.
All those moments from those years–how could he ever forget them so easily?
“Gary, you’re here.” Harper walked out of the Crowther Villa.
Gary looked at her, smiled, and stubbed out his cigarette. “Yeah.”
“You’re smoking again? I told you to quit.” Harper got into the car. The smell of smoke hung heavily in the air.
“Sorry. Won’t happen again.” Gary leaned over to fasten her seatbelt and kissed her forehead.
“Did something upset you? You can tell me. Don’t keep it to yourself.” Harper cupped his face and gave him a kiss.
“No,” Gary smiled faintly.
Isabelle had said similar things to him once. Back then, he’d thought it was silly.
Since when does your mood decide when you smoke? You just smoke when you want to.
“What do you want to eat?” he asked.

“Anything. You choose.” When Gary didn’t respond, Harper went on, “Remember that fashion designer I told you about? I rarr into her again today. She’s so gentle.”
Harper chattered on.
Gary listened quietly.
She really is gentle.
That evening, Isabelle and Damian attended a business dinner.
Damian hadn’t really wanted to go.
But Barry mentioned a project they’d been pursuing for a long time. They couldn’t secure it because the person in charge never showed up. Every discussion was handled by an assistant or a company manager.
Barry had tried to set up meetings several times with no luck. According to the manager, if Damian didn’t appear, their boss probably wouldn’t either.
Damian didn’t really care. He wasn’t worried about making this money anymore. He just wanted to stay home.
He was ready to retire.
But Barry wasn’t having it. If they landed this project, it would set them up for the next decade. Barry’s commission would be substantial.
After a lot of persuasion, Damian finally agreed to show up.
Damian, Barry, and Wilbur went to meet the other party’s manager.

Isabelle nodded. She noticed Collin was surprisingly absent today. re usually attended these events, but only Henry was here.
“Where’s Collin?” Isabelle couldn’t help asking.
Henry’s expression darkened. He rubbed his fingers together, thinking for a moment. “Mr. Dorfman is resting at home these days. If you need him, you can message him directly.”
Isabelle paused, a bad feeling settling in her chest. “Linda…”
Henry nodded. “She passed yesterday morning.”
Isabelle fell silent.
So it finally happened.
“Mr. Dorfman wanted privacy. He handled the arrangements quietly.” Henry hesitated, then added, “He might appreciate it if you and Ms. Williams stopped by to talk with him.”
Isabelle understood what Henry meant. Diana was probably just an excuse.
A heaviness settled over Isabelle. Tears welled in the corners of her eyes.
It wasn’t just for Collin. It was for Linda. What a shame.
Henry glanced at her, then at the bustling room. “Mrs. Cross, I should get back to work.”
“Alright.” Isabelle sat on the sofa, lost in thought.
I should visit Collin with Diana soon.
Collin hadn’t told anyone about Linda. It seemed like he didn’t have many friends here. The thought made her sad.
Collin was a good man, always gentle. No matter the situation, he handled everything with grace. It felt warm just being around
him.

Isabelle had never seen him lose his temper.
Why doesn’t he have more friends? Good thing Diana will be back in a couple of days.
She reached for a glass of juice.
A man had quietly sat down beside her at some point.
When Isabelle noticed him, her glass froze halfway to her lips, her face a mask of shock.
A scar ran down the left side of his face, from his temple to his jaw. It was a winding, raised line, both striking and intimidating.
But aside from the scar, he was handsome–strikingly so.
He wore a wine–red shirt, no tie, the top two buttons casually undone. He looked effortlessly attractive.

Isabelle shifted closer to him. “When did you get back?”
“Came to see you all.” Anthony’s expression softened.
“Why didn’t you tell me you were coming?” she asked.
Isabelle had helped him when they were abroad. He’d been working on security data systems. Then, for some reason, Anthony was arrested.
