But for some reason, he turned back. When he returned, he was wearing a baseball cap and a black mask. He scared off the thugs harassing the father and daughter, then left immediately after.
All he remembered was a small red birthmark on the back the girl’s neck, and her father calling her Ivy.
Now, now was he supposed to find her?
Still, with nothing else pressing, he finally replied to Isabelle’s text, “I’ll ask around.”
“Thanks, Anthony!”
A faint smile touched Anthony’s lips as he took a sip of his drink at Joseph’s bar.
Isabelle locked her phone, thought for a moment, then sent another message to Dylan.
Soon after, Diana arrived and was already waiting in the underground parking garage.
The three of them headed down together.
Before coming downstairs, Damian had changed into a pair of white sneakers–a look Isabelle didn’t often see him in.
In the garage, they found Diana in flipflops, denim shorts, and a fitted Tshirt. She yawned and tossed the car keys to Brian.
The summer heat seemed to have everyone dressing down.
Brian frowned, looking slightly embarrassed. “I had a drink earlier. Can’t drive.”
Diana gave him a sidelong glance.
“I’ll drive,” Damian said, taking the keys from Brian.
Diana glanced at Isabelle, nudged her, and pulled her into the back seat.
“Your husband’s got a different vibe today,” she whispered.
“Really?” Isabelle’s gaze drifted toward Damian, who was now in the driver’s seat with Brian beside him.
“Haven’t you noticed? In a suit, when he’s not smiling, he looks like some sharpdressed fixer. But in this getup… he seems like a whole different person–kinda like a clueless college athlete.”
Isabelle pressed her lips together to hide a smile.
“Oh, and Kylie’s package arrived today. I was thinking we should wait a few days and send everything together once our outfits are ready,” Diana said, then yawned again.
Isabelle hadn’t come into the studio yesterday, so Diana had stayed up late, working until dawn to finish most of the pending tasks. All that was left now was the final check and packaging.
Even for local delivery, presentation still mattered.

We need to get it to her before Beatrice’s birthday. She hasn’t said anything, but on a big day like that, she’ll definitely want to wear it.”
It would also be great for promotion.
Awordofmouth recommendation from the mayor’s wife carried more weight than any paid ad- at least it would reach people with discerning taste.
Diana nodded in agreement. “I’m gonna nap. Wake me when we get there.”
Exhausted, she leaned against Isabelle’s shoulder and was asleep in moments.
Isabel e glanced up at the rearview mirror, just as Damian’s eyes met hers in the reflection. He smiled softly before focusing back
on the road.
“It’s a new place a riverside steakhouse. That spot we passed last time, I mentioned it to you,” Brian told Damian.
“Mr. Hughes is treating, and you’re taking us to a roadside joint?” Damian teased.
It wasn’t exactly cheap.
The riverside steakhouse was a cozy, converted bungalow right by the water. The outdoor patio seating along the riverbank was particularly charming, and the indoor space felt warm and inviting.
But the head chef was a moody, heavyset guy–you ate whatever he felt like making that day.
They drove along the winding river road. The night view over the water was a perfect backdrop for romance, and the atmosphere felt lovely even as they pulled up.
A few small food vendors had set up nearby, with picnic tables serving as makeshift stalls.
They parked under a large oak tree and got out.
Diana yawned again, saw Brian stepping out, and immediately hooked her arm through his, leaning against him for support.
Brian wrapped an arm around her waist and said to Damian, “Our table’s reserved. Just give the host my name. I’ll go check if they have that craft beer I like inside.”
“Got it.”
Damian took Isabelle’s hand and walked toward the patio. A server greeted them immediately.
Brian had booked a prime table with a stunning view of the moonlit river.
“That guy who said Buffalo wings smelled like crap… is now eating…”

He didn’t finish the sentence, just grinned and glanced toward a vendor’s stall where Gary and Harper were sitting at a wobbly
