Chapter 462 Awkward Returns
Damian tapped her forehead gently. “You scared me half to death with that vague text!”
He’d been frantic the entire drive over, his mind racing with worst–case scenarios.
“Ow..” Isabelle rubbed her forehead. “That hurt…”

She had texted Damian earlier–first “I’m at the hospital,” then “Daisy has heat exhaustion“-sending them as separate messages. Damian had seen only the first one and rushed over immediately.
“Serves you right. Maybe you’ll remember to send the full story next time,” he grumbled, though his tone was more relieved than
stern.
Watching them, Adrian allowed himself a small, knowing smile. He’d known Damian since the young man was a boy and had tried reaching out to him after his injury–though none of his efforts had seemed to penetrate the walls Damian built.
Even after Damian’s physical recovery, he’d remained distant and cool toward nearly everyone. Adrian never thought he’d see Damian behave with such open, tender concern.
It seemed Damian had truly met his match.
“You two should go get some lunch. I can stay here with her,” Diana offered, feeling like she’d just witnessed an entire romantic comedy scene.
“It’s alright. We can wait a little longer,” Damian replied, glancing respectfully toward Adrian.
Soon after, the doctor stepped out from behind the curtain.
Daisy was already connected to an IV for fluids and glucose. She still looked pale, but at least her eyes were open.
“Doctor, how is she?” Adrian asked urgently.
“She’ll be just fine. Have a family member get her some food so she can rebuild her energy. It’s the height of summer–make sure she avoids working outside during the peak heat hours. Other than that, there’s no cause for concern. She just needs a day or two of good rest.”
Adrian thanked the doctor profusely before returning to Daisy’s bedside.
“You have to fuel your body. No one was rushing you–why were you in such a hurry that you skipped a meal? If you’d collapsed right at our shop entrance, how would we ever face our customers again?” Diana fussed as she set up the bedside tray.
She had picked up a variety of easy–to–eat foods on her way and now spread them out in front of Daisy.
“You’ve gotten too thin. Skipping breakfast… you haven’t picked up a single good habit,” Adrian muttered, his voice thick with paternal worry.
Daisy managed a weak smile and pushed herself up slightly. The suit jacket that wasn’t hers slipped from her shoulders. She paused, her eyes darting to Damian—who had his own jacket casually over his arm—so this one clearly wasn’t his.
“Don’t look at me. I just got here,” Damian said, immediately recognizing the tailored cut of the jacket.

Then… whose is this?” She looked around, but no other likely candidate was in sight.

Her father wasn’t wearing a suit and this jacket was cut for someone with a much taller, broader frame. It carried a faint, clean scent–like sandalwood and fresh air.
Adrian’s gaze also landed on the men’s jacket.
“It’s Anthony’s. You wouldn’t let go of it when he carried you in, so he left it with you.”
A faint warmth crept into Daisy’s cheeks. “His…”
She hesitated. “He…”
“He had to attend to something. He left right after making sure you were settled,” Isabelle explained, genuinely relieved to see color returning to Daisy’s face.
Daisy nodded slowly and began picking at the food on her tray, her thoughts clearly elsewhere.
She’d missed seeing him. Again.
And why on earth had she been clinging to his jacket?
People said he kept to himself–today proved it. He’d rather leave behind a perfectly good jacket than stick around for small talk.
A suit of this quality had to have cost several thousand, easy.
What an unusual man.
A wealthy, unusual man.
Still connected to the IV, her appetite was limited. She stopped eating after just a few bites.
“You should focus on resting. We’ll get out of your hair now,” Isabelle said softly.
