Chapter 468 A Baseless Claim
Chapter 468 A Baseless Claim
“Lydia’s here?” Isabelle asked
“Yeah. Should we meet with her?” Diana replied.
“Might as well hear her out.” Isabelle’s curiosity was piqued.

There was absolutely nothing between her and Anthony everything was straightforward. What did she have to worry about?
As soon as she came downstairs, she saw Damian sitting on the living room sofa discussing work with Dylan, while Lydia sat off to the side, stealing occasional glances in his direction.
Damian was likely there to pick Isabelle up, though he seemed unusually early today. He would normally still be at the office at this hour, today, he’d arrived a good hour ahead of schedule.
Something Brian had said had stuck with him, and Bruce mentioned spotting Gareth tailing them to the studio the other day. Now, Damian was concerned Gareth might show up here unannounced.
Bruce had been sent to deliver an important document and wasn’t around. With Anthony also reportedly not at the studio, Damian decided to come over personally.
Gareth wasn’t a formidable opponent, but Damian was wary of him pestering Diana. After all, losing thirty million was a sting- anyone would look for ways to recoup that.
“Let’s pause there. Continue this discussion with Victoria,” Damian said, letting out a long sigh as he leaned back into the sofa cushions.
He was about to reach for his phone when he saw Diana and Isabelle walking in from the back.
“You’re early today,” Isabelle said as she walked toward him.
Damian extended his hand, and Isabelle naturally placed hers in his, letting him guide her to sit beside him.
“Nothing pressing came up, so I thought I’d head over. How are you holding up? Tired?”
“I’m alright.”
The two spoke softly to each other.
Nearby, Lydia watched them, her expression visibly darkening.
“Good afternoon, Ms. Hawthorne,” Diana greeted Lydia.
Isabelle glanced at her briefly, while Damian picked up his cup and took a slow sip
“Ms. Williams,” Lydia said, slowly standing up. Her slender frame was immediately apparent she was visibly thin, almost delicate
“Are you here to see isabelle?” Diana asked pointedly
“Yes, is Isabelle available?”
“Do you have business with her?” Diana’s gaze drifted past Lydia’s shoulder, settling on Damian and isabelte sitting together on the

sofa behind her
“Why else would I be leaking for her?” Lydia replied with a faint sneer.
“But
you don’t know her, and she doesn’t know you.”

Isabelle and Damian remained seated on the sofa, watching the exchange with mild interest.
The very person being discussed was sitting right behind her, observing the scene unfold.
Lydia seemed momentarily thrown but quickly regained her composure. “Is that so? She doesn’t know me? But I’m sure she knows Anthony, doesn’t she?”
Clearly, Lydia had never actually met Isabelle before.
“And what if she does?” Isabelle interjected calmly.
Lydia stiffened, a sudden chill running down her spine.
She turned around mechanically and saw Isabelle and Damian.
Suddenly, she felt as if she’d seen them somewhere before but couldn’t quite place it.
Her eyes lingered on Damian. A flicker of relief passed through her, but then her expression shifted again. She couldn’t help but let out a derisive scoff. “No wonder you left Anthony.”
Damian’s heart gave a hard thump as he turned those words over in his mind.
Left Anthony?
Isabelle glanced at Damian, worried he might misunderstand. She tightened her grip on his hand.
Damian gently stroked the back of her hand with his thumb, but his eyes had turned icy as they fixed on Lydia. “Ms. Hawthorne, you might want to choose your words more carefully,” Diana cut in, her annoyance clear.
If Lydia was here to start trouble, she was certainly in the wrong place.
“Ms. Hawthorne, Anthony is on his way here,” Damian stated evenly.
Lydia remained seated on the sofa, looking down her nose at everyone present.
“Good. I want to get to the bottom of this.”
“You’re an ex. Even if something did happen, what business is it of yours?” Diana retorted, settling onto another sofa.
“Of course it’s my business. If she hadn’t gotten between Anthony and me back then, he would have come back to me by now”
Gotten between
The phrase sent a ripple through Damian’s composed demeanor.
He remembered how Anthony often called her Ellie.
