Chapter 486 Unraveling the Gala Gown Sabotage
“Now that you mention it, they kinda would.”
The two women shared a smile.
They chatted in the car and soon arrived at Crowther Villa.
Beatrice had already arranged for Harper to be waiting outside with several household staff.
Diana and Isabelle got out of the car. Evelyn gave Harper a few instructions, and the staff began carrying the gift boxes inside one by one.
“Please come inside, ladies. Mrs. Crowther has prepared afternoon tea,” a maid said, leading Isabelle and Diana in.
Harper glanced briefly at Isabelle’s back before turning away, continuing to oversee the unloading.
Evelyn and Harper took the garments inside for a final inspection. They unpacked each piece carefully, confirming everything was in order.
Beatrice trusted their work implicitly. She looked over a few of the outfits before leaving the dressing room, leaving the rest to Harper.
“How is your mother doing? I’ve been trying to invite her out recently, but I can never seem to reach her,” Beatrice asked Isabelle.
Since Christian’s passing, Caroline rarely accepted social invitations. And if Caroline wasn’t going out, Regina usually chose to stay in as well.
Beatrice and Regina were longtime friends. Over time, they had grown closer to Caroline, and the bond among the three women had deepened.
Plus, Isabelle’s designs had genuinely impressed Beatrice, giving them more and more to talk about.
When they left Crowther Villa, Bruce went to pick up Damian.
Isabelle and Diana waited by the entrance, chatting about the client they’d met earlier.
“Her requests are all reasonable, but she wants the final delivery to be in person. You’ll probably have to lipndle that yourself,” Isabelle said. She was concerned that if Lauren had any adjustments, it would be easier for Diana to communicate directly.
Diana yawned. “It’s fine. She doesn’t seem like a difficult person. Even if there are changes, they probably won’t be major.”
“Let’s hope so,” Isabelle said lightly. After all, they’d dealt with similar situations before.
As they were talking, a white sedan, lightly splattered with mud, pulled up under a large tree not far away.
The driver’s door opened, and Gary stepped out.
Their eyes met briefly.
Isabelle and Diana looked away.
Gary paused, tossed the cigarette in his hand to the ground, and crushed it under the scuffed toe of his leather shoe

He putted out his phone to check the time.

It was still early for Harper’s shift to end. He wasn’t sure why he’d come so early today. And unexpectedly, he’d run into her again.
here.
The last time he’d seen her, Damian was picking her up, and they’d kissed in the car….
He pressed his lips together and walked toward her.
“Isabelle…” Gary began.
Diana immediately stepped in front of Isabelle, placing herself between them. “What do you want?”
Isabelle remained silent.
Gary looked past Diana at Isabelle. “It’s nothing much. I just wanted to ask you to thank Mr. Cross for me.”
Isabelle was taken aback. “Thank him for what?”
Did Damian have some dealings with Gary?
Diana also found it strange. She glanced back at Isabelle but didn’t move from her protective stance.
Gary offered a faint smile. Perhaps Damian hadn’t mentioned it to her. “Mr. Cross referred some projects to me.”
“Oh,” Isabelle replied flatly.
So Damian really had given him work.
Back when they were at the pub and that guy Samuel was causing trouble, Gary had stepped in. Damian had said he’d return the favor someday. Isabelle had thought it was just talk. After all, Gary had been so despicable in the past that Damian had usually looked for an excuse to put him in his place whenever they crossed paths.
It felt sudden, this change.
Gary’s gaze drifted to her hand resting lightly on her stomach. He gave a slight nod, then turned and walked back to his car, putting a respectful distance between them.
Just then, Bruce pulled up.
Diana tactfully took the front passenger seat.

Damian got out of the car, his eyes briefly noting the white sedan parked nearby, then opened the rear door for Isabelle:
“Have you been waiting long?” he asked.
“Not at all. We just got out a few minutes ago,” Isabelle replied.
“Any preferences for dinner?” Damian asked, looking from Isabelle to Diana. “Brian’s also joining us.”
“You two decide. I’m not paying, anyway,” Diana said, pouting playfully as she scrolled through her phone.
