Chapter 489 Truth or Dare
“I really need to figure out a solid plan for this.”
The car pulled up in front of the bar.
“Bruce, do you want to come in for a bit?” Isabelle suddenly turned and asked.
Bruce was taken aback. “No, I’ll need to drive later.”
Isabelle pressed her lips together. At his age–in the prime of his life–it seemed a shame for him to always be so rigid, working solely as Damian’s driver and security, never drinking, not even smoking.
“Don’t worry, your boss won’t dock your pay.”
Bruce replied, “He won’t dock my pay, but he might give me an earful.”
See? So devoted.
Diana glanced at Bruce. “How about just some club soda then? If you’re not sticking close, what if we run into someone like Samuel again?”
Isabelle stifled a laugh.
Bruce thought it over and decided that made sense. After parking the car, he followed them inside.
When they entered, Lynn was already seated at a booth.
The place wasn’t crowded at that hour. Daisy sat beside her, both leisurely sipping their drinks.
Daisy said, “If you don’t go back, Lucas keeps texting me every day. But it’s weird–this time he didn’t even lecture me. He actually told me to be more understanding. That old block of ice… I guess he’s finally developing a human heart where you’re concerned, huh?”
Lynn shook her head slightly, took a sip of her drink, and said, “A human heart? A hurricane couldn’t crack that man. And that ridiculous move you suggested–kissing him was like kissing a statue. He didn’t even flinch. What was the point?”
She unconsciously touched her lips.
Γ
She now had good reason to suspect that on the day she was drunk, Lucas definitely hadn’t kissed her. Otherwise, he wouldn’t have had no reaction.
If Lucas had any real feelings for her, shouldn’t he have… well, reacted more?
Lynn shook her head again, trying to clear those unhelpful thoughts.
That kiss had been too rushed, and she hadn’t even processed how it felt–like it didn’t feel like anything at all.
Throwing the card back at him had felt much more satisfying.
Isabelle and Diana arrived just as Lynn finished speaking.
They noticed Bruce following a few steps behind them.

“Hey Bruce, you joined the party?” Lynn greeted with a smile.
“Hello Daisy, hello Lynn Bruce wasn’t used to social settings like this. He usually waited in the car, so he seemed a bit out of place
now.
That was precisely why Isabelle had wanted him to come in—so he wouldn’t just be sitting out there like a fixture
At least inside, he could have a drink and some conversation.
Daisy signaled to the bartender, who brought over some juices and snacks.
Lynn glanced at Isabelle, who pressed her lips together, still unsure how to broach the subject she had in mind.
It all felt a bit too abrupt.
Bruce took his juice and sat at the bar a polite distance away, giving them their space.
Daisy had some bar snacks sent over to him as well.
When she turned back, she noticed the three women were all slumped slightly on the sofa, lost in their own thoughts.
“Seriously, what’s with the gloomy gathering? You come here and then just sit in silence?” Daisy found it amusing.
She sighed dramatically. “Ah, good thing I’m not married. Otherwise, these kinds of worries would definitely come for me too.”
She raised her glass with a smile. “Cheers!”
The other three half–heartedly picked up their glasses–theirs contained alcohol, while Isabelle’s was juice. They clinked glasses lightly and took small sips.
Daisy couldn’t stand the somber mood. “If none of you are talking, I’ll just ask each of you directly. You have to answer, or you as a penalty!” she declared. Then, pointing at Isabelle, she added, “You–penalty applies to you, too.”
Isabelle suddenly felt like she’d been put on the spot by a teacher and now had to perform.
Daisy looked at Lynn first. Right now, she most wanted to hear about the Lugas situation. “You first. Come on, what’s really bothering you?”
Lynn hadn’t finished the drink in her glass when she felt the expectant gazes of the other women fixed on her.
She let out an awkward chuckle and drained the rest of her glass.
“Don’t laugh at me when I say this,” Lynn began, feeling embarrassed to talk about these feelings. It felt like she was having pre- wedding jitters, which was ridiculous.
