Isabelle said gently, “Because you’ve developed real feelings for him, but you’re not entirely sure why. You’re probably thinking about him constantly now. If he sent you a message, you’d feel a rush of excitement, and if he showed up right now to take you home, you’d go with him without hesitation. Am I right?”

“Is it that obvious?” Lynn paused, the tips of her ears turning faintly pink.

She must have had a bit too much to drink–why did it feel like every word Isabelle said hit home?

Daisy was impressed by Isabelle’s insight. It was like she could see straight through Lynh. Then again, she was more experienced in matters of the heart.

Daisy quickly sent a text to Lucas, “Your fiancée is tipsy. I can’t handle her tonight can you come pick her up from the bar?”

Lucas replied, “On my way.”

Daisy let out a quiet, impressed whistle as she looked at her phone.

Lynn asked, “What is it?”

Daisy shook her head. “Nothing.”

She swiftly changed the subject. “What about you, Diana? What’s on your mind? You’ve already got your man–you should be focusing on your career. Out of all of us, you should be the least worried.”

Diana gave an awkward laugh. “I managed to get three hundred millon out of my birth father, and now he’s circling back causing trouble. I don’t know how to handle it but I also don’t want to give the money back. Any brilliant ideas?”

Daisy’s eyes went wide. She held up three fingers. “Three hundred million? Three hundred million? Take it and run! He’s your birth father, not your spouse–it’s not community property. Once it’s in your account, it’s yours. What’s there to fret about? What kind of trouble is worth giving up the money for?”

Diana thought about it and realized she had a point.

Gareth was no match for Brian, and Brian was practically a seasoned pro at handling these kinds of situations. If anything, Gareth should be worried about getting outmaneuvered again.

She nodded slowly.

Daisy looked at her with a mix of admiration and envy. “Three hundred million… If I landed a sum like that, I’d close up shop and see the world. Why keep working myself to the bone?”

Suddenly, she turned to Isabelle. “And you? Don’t tell me you’re stressed because you have too much money and don’t know how to spend it?”

Diana nodded in agreement.

“If you hand me three hundred million, you don’t have to say another word,” Lynn chimed in, lightening the mood.

Isabelle smiled. Being around these women suddenly made her burdens feel lighter.

“I… I’ve been searching for original vinyl pressings from around 1960. Damian’s birthday is coming up soon…”

Daisy paused, her expression turning thoughtful. “You know, I think I might have some.”

Lynn’s gaze flickered from Isabelle to Daisy.

Isabelle watched Daisy’s face carefully. Aside from deep recollection, there didn’t seem to be any lingering pain or resentment.

Daisy took another casual sip of her drink.

“I’ve got stacks of vinyl records–whole crates of them, all first editions from legendary artists overseas. Want to know how I got them? From some sketchy underground market abroad. I almost got mugged, but thankfully a good Samaritan stepped in. Otherwise, I might not be here today.”

Lynn glanced at Isabelle, her lips pressed together thoughtfully.

It seemed Isabelle’s visit tonight wasn’t without purpose.

Isabelle hadn’t expected Daisy to address the topic so openly.

Daisy leaned in closer to Isabelle. “Don’t laugh, but back when I was chasing after Damian, I bought up practically every notable vinyl release from overseas.”

Isabelle asked, curious, “And you never gave them to him?”

“Give them to him? At first, he only had eyes for someone else. Then after he got injured, I couldn’t even get near him. By the next time our paths crossed, you were already in the picture. Talk about timing–I never even got a chance with the guy.”

Isabelle couldn’t help but laugh softly.

“How many do you need?” Daisy asked, then immediately waved her hand. “Actually, forget it. You can take the whole collection. It’s not like I’ll ever use them now anyway.”

Isabelle’s eyes lit up. “Seriously?”
