Damian looked at him, their slowly stood up and handed the paper bag to Bruce. “Wait here for Isabelle. Give this to her, and tell her to open it when she gets home.”
“You’re not going to wait with me?” Bruce asked.
Damian glanced at the paper bag. “No.”
Just then, Isabelle called Damian. He hesitated, then declined the call.
He didn’t want to hear Isabelle confess about herself and Anthony. Whatever she wanted to do, that was of her.
When Isabelle couldn’t reach Damian, she called Bruce instead.
Bruce looked at Damian and answered.
Isabelle asked, “Where’s Damian?”
“He’s… in a meeting,” Bruce said, stumbling to find a decent excuse.
Damian listened silently beside him.
Isabelle said, “Just bring him straight to the old villa later. I won’t be coming to get you.”
Damian nodded from the side.
“Okay,” Bruce said, and hung up.
Isabelle hung up.
“Mr. Cross…” Bruce started.
Damian waved a hand. “You go. Just give her the file.”
“Aren’t you going?” Bruce asked.
“No.”

Bruce didn’t know what was in the file, but he knew Isabelle had been working on Damian’s birthday for days, handling everything herself.
All their friends and family were waiting at the old villa. His not showing up would be terrible.
“You should go. You already promised her. If you bail now, she’ll be really hurt,” Bruce urged.
Damian gave a self–mocking, bitter laugh. She’ll probably be happier if I don’t go.
“She won’t be upset. Just remember to give her the file,” Damian insisted.
Bruce got flustered. “No! You have to go!”
Damian was taken aback. Bruce never got this worked up.

Bruce quickly grabbed his arm. “She’s been staying up late for nights working on this. You can’t just not go-” He stopped mid- sentence, afraid he’d spoil the surprise.
Damian froze, then turned to look at him. “Even you knew?”
Bruce swallowed hard.
Oh no. He knows, So that’s what’s been bothering him lately? Does he really hate his birthday that much? Or is it the old stuff he still can’t let go?
Damian let out a cold, scornful laugh.
Even Bruce knew. I’m the only one in the dark.
Staying up for nights? Is she that eager to leave me?
His voice turned icy. “Who else knows?”
Bruce hesitated.
“Tell me!” Damian snapped, raising his voice.
Bruce was startled. Damian had never yelled at him before. This was a first.
Bruce stammered, “Mr. Vale, Diana, Daisy, Mr. Louis Cross…”
“Get out!” Damian roared, cutting him off, his hands clenched into fists.
Dad knows too? So everyone knew, and I’m the fool?
I’m the last to find out my wife is cheating?
All this fuss, just for that?
No wonder Isabelle’s been so nice to me lately. It all makes sense now.
He snatched the file and car keys from Bruce and stormed out of the office.
Bruce hurried after him.
“Don’t you fucking dare follow me!” Damian yelled, swearing.
I’m going to see exactly how Isabelle plans to tell me. She’s carrying my child but thinking of another man, and now she wants to come clean for him? Couldn’t she just keep it buried? This is going to kill me.
Bruce stopped in his tracks, looking utterly defeated. He quickly called Isabelle.
“Mr. Cross is on his way. But… he seems really mad. I think I messed up,” Bruce said.
There was a pause. “He knows?” Isabelle asked,
