Chapter 519 Have to Thank Anthony
Brian had custom cupcakes and coffee sent over for everyone. The cupcake for Isabelle was the one he’d personally picked out, and it even had “Love You” written on it in icing.
Every cupcake had a nice message, but none of the others were quite like hers.
Eleanor had even teased her at the time, asking if Brian had a thing for her.
Isabelle was pretty direct too, joking back and asking Brian if he actually liked her. Brian just took a step back, looking genuinely put off.
“I see you as a friend, and you’re trying to hit on me? If you don’t want that cupcake, give it here. I’ll feed it to a dog,” he said.

Brian’s answer was so brutally honest that it pretty much killed any rumors. After that, everyone just assumed they were close friends from college.
While they were all eating cake, Damian came by. The design department colleagues all jumped at the chance to suck up to the
boss.
Isabelle joined in the fun, shouting along with the crowd, “Mr. Cross is the greatest! Mr. Cross is the hottest! Mr. Cross, I love you!”
The office was noisy, voices all blending together. Isabelle figured Damian hadn’t picked hers out of the crowd.
But then she saw the corner of his mouth twitch up in a tiny smile. He didn’t say anything, just glanced at her before leaving.
Isabelle’s gaze drifted back to him now. He was carefully examining the record player, looking it over as if it were the most precious thing.
After that day last year, Isabelle had found out about Gary–thanks to a scheme cooked up by Damian and Brian.
After reassuring Regina, who was then called away by Caroline on some errand, Isabelle walked over to Damian.
“You like it?” she asked.
Damian looked up, a genuine look of delight on his face. “I love it.”
A warm feeling spread through Isabelle’s chest. “It’s for you.”
He looked stunned. “Where did you even get this?”
Record players and vinyl from that era were rare to begin with. He’d had people look for one before. They’d found a few players, but none in great condition. Actual vinyl records were practically priceless, nearly impossible to buy.
Isabelle pressed her lips together, putting on a slightly wounded look. “Anthony spent days fixing the record player. And I had to sweet–talk a ‘rival‘ to get the vinyl.”
Hearing Anthony’s name, Damian felt a pang of guilt.
I’ve been misunderstanding him this whole time, secretly calling him disloyal in my head. And he was the one quietly fixing this for me. No wonder Isabelle’s been spending so much time with him lately.
“I really do have to thank him,” Damian murmured.

sabette crossed her arms, pretending to be huffy. “Thank him? You nearly accused me of cheating! You owe me an apology too!”
Damian smiled, then asked, “And the record…?”
“You don’t even know how many admirers you have,” Isabelle said, pointing over to where Daisy was eating cake with Lynn. “See?
Her.”
Damian paused. Thankfully, Daisy isn’t the clingy, dramatic type, or this could have led to a whole other misunderstanding.
“And she’s taken a bunch of private photos of you,” Isabelle added, tattling.
That Damian hadn’t expected. “Did she give you a hard time when you asked for the record?”
If one actually wanted to buy a record like this, it would cost a fortune. Most people who owned them kept them as collector’s items and were never willing to sell.
Isabelle pouted, “She gave me so much trouble. I had to beg her for ages.”
Damian took her hand and smiled. “But you still managed to get it, didn’t you?”
Given how close the three of them were now, Daisy probably hadn’t made it that difficult.
Nearby, Lucas watched Damian and Isabelle, then glanced over at Lynn. He picked up his glass and took a sip of wine.
Daisy had left earlier on some business, so Lynn was sitting alone on the sofa. Lucas was sitting right across from her.
Seeing Lucas drink, Lynn said softly, “You shouldn’t drink if your back’s not great.”
He has all this wine at home and drinks every day. It’s a wonder it hasn’t killed him!
Lucas obediently set the glass down.
Lynn went to the kitchen and had a maid pour her a glass of juice. She brought it over and handed it to Lucas.
The sofa opposite was now full, occupied by Louis and the others. So she simply sat down beside Lucas on his sofa, leaning back and awkwardly playing on her phone.
But the moment she unlocked her phone, a video of a barely-dressed guy doing a pole dance popped up. She quickly locked it again.
