Chapter 582 Standing Firm
Petra was speechless for a long moment. How could Lynn possibly love Lucas?
If it weren’t for that enormous pink diamond he’d give her, would Lynn even be this attached?

“If you actually care about Lucas, you’d stay away from him. With your brother’s legal troubles, your family’s business is going to take a major hit. Now that you’re married to him, you don’t think his company will be affected? There’s too much overlap–too many connections.”
She was frustrated, and it showed. “He’s out there right now, pulling strings, trying to clean up your family’s mess. That just makes the ties even more obvious. It’s not just his company–the whole Moore family’s business interests are going to feel some ripple effects, one way or another.”
Lynn hadn’t considered that. She only knew Lucas had said he’d do everything he could to help her family. He hadn’t mentioned a word about what it might cost his own.
Daisy stayed calm, her voice steady. “Petra, using all that to scare Lynn–you should think about what people in our circles are going to say when they find out you came here today to push her into leaving
Lucas.
“You’re the one who set this marriage up in the first place. Now the Murphys are in trouble, before any verdict’s even been handed down, and you’re here demanding a split. Even if they do separate, what family would ever let their daughter marry your son after watching how you’ve handled this?
“Everyone knows what kind of man Lucas is. If you keep this up, people might start looking at him differently–in business, in his personal life. He might even start looking at himself differently. All you’re going to accomplish is making him resent you even more. He’s already moved out. After a stunt like this. who knows if he’ll ever want to come back home.”
Lynn had been completely drawn in by Petra’s words. For a moment, she’d actually started believing she was dragging Lucas down.
But hearing Daisy’s take, it made sense too. Outsiders always saw things clearer.
Lucas really was exactly how Daisy described him–otherwise, he wouldn’t have spoken to Petra the way he did last night.
Petra frowned at Daisy. Lynn had been wavering, and now Daisy’s words had steadied her again.
Still, what Daisy said wasn’t wrong either.
Right now, it felt like there was no perfect choice.
“I respect Lucas. If he wants me to go, I’ll go.
But if Lucas wasn’t afraid of the consequences, then you had even less reason to give up.
It was just… his company probably wouldn’t have an easy road ahead
That was what worried her most now
Petra couldn’t argue with them. She realized shed acted too rashly. Showing up here like this probably

Daisy shot a disapproving look toward the door and turned to Lynn. “You’re too kind–hearted. If you’d actually ended up living under the same roof as her, she’d walk all over you.”
“She’s not entirely wrong, though.” Lynn’s voice was quieter now.
Lucas‘ career would definitely take a hit–he just hadn’t told her.
And with the Sandy situation, wasn’t Petra also thinking about what was best for the Moore family?
She just didn’t see her own sons clearly. She thought she was doing right by them, but really, she was only serving her own ideas.
Daisy shook her head, trying to clear those thoughts from Lynn’s mind. “Lynn, snap out of it. If you actually listened to her, Lucas would be crushed.”
Yeah. Lucas would be hurt.
“He knew about all of this from the beginning, and he still married you. That means he was ready for it. If he wasn’t willing to stand by you through something like this, then he’s exactly the kind of man you should run from,” Daisy said firmly.
Lynn’s thoughts were all over the place.
Knowing Lucas, he’d had a thousand reasons to call this off before the wedding. But he never wavered. So what was there to be afraid of now?
Lucas was betting his whole future on this. Lynn had nothing left to lose–what was she scared of!
By evening, Lynn got a notice from the hospital. She was being placed on administrative leave.
No surprise there. She didn’t have much to say about it and sent in her resignation right away. It was processed quickly,
Gordon had already retired last month, so it didn’t affect him much. To avoid any backlash, the hospital administration decided not to let his history there influence things–Lynn was out.
She didn’t really mind. If it weren’t for Gordon, she wouldn’t have wanted to stay at that hospital anyway.
Going back now would just give people more reason to gossip.
What she’d originally wanted to study was herbal medicine. That was why she’d gotten so close to Taylor in the first place. (
