It was impossible to wrap her head around–Lucas had actually let Lynn call him a brute.

“How did he let you get away with that?” Daisy asked, curiosity getting the better of her.

Lynn glanced over with a mischievous smile. “I acted cute.”

Daisy burst into laughter. “Didn’t you say it was impossible for you to ever act cute with Lucas in this lifetime? How did you turn into such a wimp that you actually did it? By the way, how did you do it?”

“How can I tell you that?” Lynn pouted.

Daisy and Isabelle had given her advice before: if Lynn just acted a little spoiled with Lucas, he might even be willing to sacrifice his life for her.

It turned out to be a prophecy come true.

Daisy laughed, immediately mimicking the tone. “Brute, can you help me? Brute, I don’t know how?”

Daisy paced around the courtyard, indignation rising with every step. “Ruben was framed; he’s a victim! He didn’t have a choice. He’s already done so much, helping all those people escape–what did he do wrong? No one wants to do this kind of thing…”

Remaining silent with a calm expression, Lynn was thinking about damage control.

If she really opened an herbal medicine shop here, coexistence with the neighbors was essential, and this kind of trouble would only make things harder.
