His scar hadn’t healed properly. A raised pink scar evoked more fear and pity than anything else in those who saw it.
Daisy’s words startled him, quickening his heartbeat. A faint ripple stirred in his chest.
Noticing his silence, likely due to his shock, Daisy’s tears began to fall. She wiped them away.
“You should go.”
“I can.”
Their voices crossed almost at the same time.
Daisy thought she misheard him, but Anthony reiterated, “If you don’t mind, I can.”
Lynn paced at the door, holding her breakfast and blowing on her hands to warm them.
She’d been waiting over half an hour. Daisy still hadn’t opened the door.
If Daisy didn’t open the door soon, she’d freeze to death out here!
She’d been shocked when she saw the message just now.
“He’s here. Wait outside for a bit.”
Who is he?
Just as she was about to text Daisy, the door opened.
She started to walk over, and then saw a figure pull Daisy into an embrace.
Lynn covered her mouth, eyes wide.
It was Anthony!
She hastily hid in a corner, turning away to avoid watching them.
Now she understood how awkward it must be for others to see them hug in public.
When she did it with Lucas, it had felt so natural. The awkwardness seemed to be felt by others, not her.
Daisy froze too. She’d only opened the door to see him out. She hadn’t expected Anthony to turn and pull her into a hug.
The sudden embrace made her deeply uneasy, as if she’d been frozen in place, stiff as a board.
“Wait for me at home. I’ll be back in a month, barring accidents. Take care of yourself. And them.”
Anthony’s voice was still steady, but gentler than before.

Chapter 642 That Man Is Anthony
Daisy was speechless.
Why did he ask me to wait a month for him?

Shouldn’t he have stayed here right now so the two of us could discuss whatever needed to be discussed? Why did he run off?
She didn’t have the nerve to ask. She hadn’t processed what had already happened. Better to wait until he was done. At least now she knew who he was, and he wasn’t shirking responsibility. That was the best she could hope for under the circumstances.
Anthony stepped into the elevator and looked at Daisy standing in the doorway. His gaze inadvertently swept past Lynn, hiding in the corner.
Lynn smiled awkwardly and waved goodbye.
The elevator doors closed.
Lynn let out a relieved breath and hurried back.
Daisy was still rooted to the spot, as if Anthony’s warmth still clung to her.
Lynn pushed her inside, closed the door, and set the breakfast on the table.
Gasping in surprise, she exclaimed, “The super villain you mentioned is him? Your ex–boyfriend who broke up with you two weeks ago? Anthony? Is it really?”
Daisy took a long time to come back to herself. “It’s him.”
Lynn excitedly hugged her. “Cupid didn’t tie you together with an arrow, he sent Anthony straight to your bed. You can’t even say no now!”
Daisy remained calm, though her mind was in turmoil.
She couldn’t describe how she felt.
In her brief conversation with Anthony, she felt detached, as if speaking was not even her. She couldn’t recall how she became so collected to deliver such pointed remarks.
Now, thinking back, she was stunned.
Lynn set out breakfast and pulled Daisy back to the sofa.
Only then did she notice Daisy’s hands were ice cold.
She rubbed them and wrapped a blanket around her.
Last night, Daisy hadn’t gone into detail. She’d only said the man was probably a super villain, and she didn’t want to investigate.
But after the doctor and Lynn’s examination, it was indeed a sign of pregnancy.
