Anthony wore his usual black suit. Daisy stood beside him in her red dress.

He understood now. They’d rushed into marriage, and their awkwardness was exactly like his and Isabelle’s

had been.

Daisy quickly moved closer to Anthony and took his hand.

“We’re not as disgustingly sweet as you two. We actually care if other people can stand to be around us.” Her face was bright red.

Even though they lived together, they really didn’t know each other that well.

Anthony felt her cold hand in his. Her palm was slightly damp with sweat.

He gave her hand a small, reassuring squeeze.

“Go inside,” he said to Damian. “Stop teasing her.”

Isabelle smiled and whispered to Damian, “He’s already protective of her.”

Daisy caught it and looked down, embarrassed. She pulled her hand back and said softly to Anthony, “I’ll take Isabelle inside.”

Anthony’s hand felt empty and cold. He nodded. “Okay.”

Daisy led Isabelle inside. Damian stayed behind to talk to Anthony.

“We’ve been dating for almost six months. My parents know. We just weren’t sure about things yet, so we didn’t make it public. Now that I’m pregnant, we can’t hide it anymore.”
