Not only was he good–tempered, but he was also good–looking. Even when only half his face had been handsome, it was enough. After the new year, he’d had the surgery, and now he was practically glowing
Anthony strode toward the elevator.
Daisy walked into the lobby and immediately noticed a familiar face at the front desk.
She looked twice. She felt like she’d seen the woman somewhere before, but she couldn’t place her.
She stepped inside and stood to the side, figuring Anthony would be down soon.
Lydia recognized her.
Last year, they’d bumped into each other at Isadiana Studio. Lydia remembered it clearly.
Daisy seemed to work at Isadiana Studio.
Lydia smiled to herself and looked away.
Just then, Anthony stepped out of the elevator. Daisy spotted him.
Seeing him hurry toward her, she rushed to meet him so she wouldn’t hold him up.
“Mr. Vale.”
“Slow down.” Anthony caught her arm.
Lydia watched their intimate exchange, stunned.
Anthony took off his jacket and draped it over Daisy’s shoulders. “You’re not wearing enough.”
Daisy stared at him, dumbfounded.
Wasn’t this exactly how someone acted when they liked you?
She forgot what she was going to say. She looked at the folder in her hand and handed it to him. “You left this at home.”
Anthony adjusted the jacket on her shoulders and took the folder. “Thank you. I appreciate you bringing
Lit.
Daisy shook her head. “As long as I didn’t hold you up.”
“You didn’t. It’s not that important anyway.” Anthony’s eyes lingered on her.
They stood in silence for a moment. Then Daisy said, “You should go back up.”
“Are you here on business?”

He’d heard the planning department mention that someone from Daisy’s ad agency was coming. This must be her.
“Yes. My meeting isn’t for a while. Go on up. I’ll wait downstairs.”
“Come with me.” Anthony took her hand and led her into the private executive elevator.
Lydia was floored.
Left it at home? Holding hands? Putting his jacket on her?
A girl who worked at a clothing design studio was with the head of a conglomerate.
She let out a bitter laugh.
After all these years apart, this was the kind of woman Anthony ended up with?
Anthony led Daisy into the elevator. She didn’t dare move her hand from his.
When they stepped out, he brought her to a clean, empty office.
She sat on the sofa and looked at him. She felt out of place.
!
“Rest here. No one will come in. Go ahead and leave when you’re done. Don’t wait for me.” Anthony patted her head. “If anything comes up, call Thomas.”
“Oh…” Daisy watched him.
When Anthony patted her head, she felt something strange.
A feeling she couldn’t name. One she liked.
Anthony left. Daisy pressed a hand to her chest and took a long time to calm down.
Around noon, Daisy signed the contract without any trouble. Her female colleague nudged her.
“Ms. Clark, you’re so lucky. Everyone at Westperch Group is so easy to deal with.”
Daisy thought it was strange too. “I know.”
Since last year, every step of their cooperation had gone suspiciously smoothly.
This hotel had just been acquired by Westperch Group and was undergoing renovations. Of course, the advertising work would be handled by Daisy’s agency.
But it all seemed too easy.
As they walked out of the hotel, Thomas was waiting for her in the lobby. “Ms. Clark, Mr. Vale asked me to drive you.”
“Don’t you need to stay with him?”
