Chapter 669 The Confrontation
Lydia’s heart clenched at the sight of her.
“Ms. Clark,” She spoke first.
Daisy smiled, “Ms. Hawthorne.”

Lydia’s eyes dropped to Daisy’s belly. It had only been a few months. How was she already this big?
Were those Anthony’s?
Her heart lurched. A wave of sadness washed over her.
“Are you alone?” Lydia asked.
Daisy looked down at her belly. “Definitely not alone.”
Lydia felt a sting of awkwardness. “Did Mr. Vale not come with you?”
She’d heard their conversation last time. She knew Anthony and Daisy were probably together. She’d asked around since then, but no one had any news about them.
Daisy could tell Lydia wasn’t a good person. Isabelle had almost gotten caught in one of her schemes. The way she was asking now was strange.
Like she wanted to hear that Anthony hadn’t shown up.
“Do you have any other questions? Are we even that close?”
Lydia faltered. “Sorry to bother you.”
She walked away and sat at a table not far from Daisy’s.
Anthony returned.
He noticed Lydia nearby.
He looked at Daisy. Daisy was pointing out the window. “Did you buy a big house over there too?”
“Yes.” He nodded.
“The schools there are good.” She turned back to him. “We’ll move there sometime.”
“Okay.” Anthony looked at her intently.
The food arrived. Including the beef shank Daisy had liked last time.
Anthony slid the beef shank over to her.
But Daisy couldn’t enjoy it the way she had before. The more she ate, the less she wanted.

Chapter 669 The Confrontation
“Can’t eat?” Anthony asked.
“Can’t. Too greasy.” Daisy was becoming picky.
Anthony didn’t say anything. He glanced at a server nearby and nodded.
Soon, a plate of cut mangoes arrived.
Daisy loved them. She ate almost the whole plate. Anthony watched her.
“Aren’t you having any?” she asked.
Anthony smiled, “Go ahead.”
Daisy picked up a piece with her fork and held it to his lips. “Try it. It’s delicious.”
Anthony looked at her, then ate it. “Delicious.”
Daisy smiled.
Not far away, Lydia watched Anthony. Her heart felt heavy.
The scar on his face was gone. He looked like the young man she’d first met in college.

His eyes used to be full of her – only her. But then he joined the military. They saw less and less of each other, and little by little, the fights started piling up.
Then she’d left the country with another man. Anthony had begged her on the phone to wait for him. To wait until he could come home and marry her.
She hadn’t listened. She’d walked out of his life.
When she came back, she couldn’t find him anywhere.
The next time she saw him, she was already the mother of a six–year–old boy.
And Anthony, with his scar, had shut everyone out.
She’d thought Anthony had feelings for Isabelle. She’d caused Isabelle a lot of trouble. She’d tried to find Anthony–showing up at his company, at places he might be. But she’d never seen him.
Now, she’d seen him twice recently. And both times, Daisy was with him. Daisy was pregnant.
Her heart twisted.
She couldn’t accept it.
“Ms. Hawthorne?” The man across from her followed her gaze and saw Anthony.
Lydia looked away, smiled, and kept eating.

After the meal, Anthony held Daisy’s hand as they walked out. Near the parking lot, Lydia called after them.
“Anthony”
Daisy and Anthony both turned.
