Chapter 670 The Promise
Anthony, however, was completely unruffled. “Now you know. Please stay far away from me.”
Daisy exhaled silently. Anthony hadn’t given Lydia an inch.
Lydia was speechless. She looked at Daisy, who hadn’t said a word the entire time.
“Is that yours?” She pointed at Daisy’s belly.
Anthony instinctively pulled Daisy behind him. “Stay away from her too!”
Daisy peered at him from behind his back.

“Have you ever wondered why she’s with you? She got pregnant before marriage. What do you think she’s after?”
“And you?” Anthony’s laugh was cold. “Didn’t you get pregnant before marriage back then because he had money?”
Lydia hadn’t expected Anthony to know about her past.
Daisy thought she understood now. Why was Anthony sometimes so attentive and other times kept his distance?
He must still have feelings for Lydia.
But then why had he fired her? Why cut off her path?
“One thing you might have misunderstood,” Anthony said. “We’re married. And she didn’t come to me. I went to her.”
Daisy’s heart pounded.
She wondered if Anthony meant what he was saying.
He sounded so sincere.
Lydia saw in Anthony’s eyes the same certainty he’d had when he’d told her he loved her, all those years
ago.
He meant it.
Lydia looked at Daisy, then back at Anthony.
“You’re a nuisance to me,” Anthony said. “We broke up a long time ago. I don’t want to see you again.” He looked back at Daisy, carefully put his arm around her, and walked away.
Lydia watched his retreating figure. The woman in his arms wasn’t her anymore.
“Anthony,” She called out to him again.

Chapter 670 The Promise
Anthony opened the passenger door. Daisy got in.
He looked back at Lydia.
“You said that if I came back, you would still marry me.” Lydia’s voice was soft.
Anthony said, “Thank you for not looking back.”
He got into the driver’s seat and drove away.
Lydia stood there. The summer wind brushed her cheeks, but she felt only cold.
Daisy stole glances at Anthony as he drove.
His face was expressionless. His driving was as steady as ever.
“Let’s go to the Coastal District,” Daisy suggested.
“Okay.”
They were silent for a long time. Then Anthony said, “That was embarrassing.”
“It wasn’t. I’ve known about her for a long time. I just didn’t know she still liked you.”
“I don’t like her.”
Daisy wanted to ask him if there was anyone he did like, and if he liked her.
But she was afraid he wouldn’t answer. Or that he’d say no.
She didn’t have the courage to ask.
Anthony wasn’t good at lying. Daisy didn’t want to make herself sad.
“Are you angry?” Anthony glanced at her.

“What? No. You’re handsome and rich. Of course she likes you. I should be happy that my husband is so popular.”
Daisy hadn’t felt uncomfortable about Lydia showing up. She just felt sorry for Anthony.
She’d heard about Anthony and Lydia’s history from Isabelle. While Anthony was in the military, Lydia had gotten involved with another man and followed him abroad. Anthony had begged her on the phone not to leave. He’d promised to marry her as soon as he was discharged.
She’d left anyway.
Anthony had been devoted. For two years after Lydia left, he’d tried to reach her. But she’d never responded.
Later. Anthony stayed in the military and went on peacekeeping missions with Damian and the others.
