The first time she’d done it, she’d left several tiny nicks on his chin. She’d been all thumbs, apologizing through her laughter, but her eyes had been full of him. Anthony loved that feeling.
But she’d never actually said it.
When Daisy didn’t answer, he didn’t push. He just buried his face in her neck and kissed her softly.
Daisy grabbed his shoulders and pushed him back gently.
Anthony stopped and pulled up the strap of her dress that had slipped down.
Daisy looked at him. He had this almost wounded expression, like a kicked puppy. She leaned into his chest and wrapped her arms around his waist.
Anthony held her back, stroking the back of her head.
“How serious were you and Lydia?” Daisy asked quietly.
Anthony didn’t want to talk about her and didn’t want Daisy to feel bad, but he didn’t want to lie either.
“Engagement serious,” he said softly.
“You must have been heartbroken. Not getting to marry the woman you loved.”
Anthony pulled her tighter, his hand kneading her lower back. “Thank God I didn’t.”
“Was she your first?”
Anthony grunted. Then he added, “We weren’t together much. I was in the military. We didn’t see each other often.”
Daisy rubbed her cheek against his chest. “No wonder you’re so bad at it.”
“Bad at it?”
Anthony’s face went cold. He didn’t know whether to be angry or laugh.
The first time, she’d cried so hard. And after the babies were born, he’d held back because he didn’t want to hurt her. That was the only reason he’d been so restrained.
He let out a dry laugh. “I guess I need more practice, then.”
Daisy looked up and met his dark, depthless eyes. “That’s not what I meant…”
Anthony said, “I admit it. I’m bad at it.”
“No, you’re not.”
She’d just been joking. She hadn’t meant it.

Chapter 693 Practice Makes Perfect
Back at the villa, Anthony held Daisy’s hand the whole way.
She tried to pull away. He held on tighter.
“Are you mad? Because I said you were…” Bad at it.

“I’m not mad. But since you’ve pointed out an area for improvement, I should work on it.” Anthony pulled her toward the bedroom.
“You don’t need to. I was joking. You’re fine.”
“Am I?”
“Yes. You’re fine.”
He stopped in front of the bathroom door and looked down at her. “How fine?”
Daisy didn’t answer.
Anthony pushed her into the bathroom. “Shower.”
Daisy watched him walk out.
So he was planning on it tonight.
Anthony went to check on Lyra and Luna. The two little ones had just woken up. The nanny was changing their diapers.
He reached out and played with them.
“Is Mrs. Vale home?” the nanny asked.
“Yes. I’ll bring them to her in a bit.”
Anthony touched their cheeks. They felt just like Daisy’s, soft, smooth.
Daisy stayed in the bathroom for over half an hour.
Anthony had already showered in the guest bathroom. Now he was on the bed with the two little ones, playing.
Daisy’s hair was still wet. The flush from the steam hadn’t faded. Anthony figured he’d scared her earlier that was why she’d stayed in so long.
“They’re hungry.” Anthony sat on the bed, took her hand, and pulled her down.
He spread a dry towel on the nightstand, had Daisy lie down with her head on it, and started drying her hair.
She lay there, nursing the babies. Luna was curled up against her.
