Chapter 801 The Wedding Gown
“This is what Dad and I have been putting aside for you over the years.”
Claudia hesitated to take it. It was likely an engagement gift from Harvey.
Back at the house, Harold had already given her a black card. She hadn’t used it yet and didn’t even know the balance.
Now Harvey was handing her another one.

She couldn’t help feeling that the Bowman family had done so much for their family–why else would they treat her with such generosity?
“Harold already gave me one,” Claudia said. “I really can’t accept yours too.”
Harvey didn’t respond. His gaze drifted to the faint pink mark on her shoulder, just below the strap of her dress that hadn’t quite hidden it.
He looked away.
Before Claudia could finish, Harvey took her wrist, pressed the card firmly into her palm, then let go and walked off without another word, leaving her standing there confused.
She stared at the card in her hand, then watched him walk away. The warmth of his grip still lingered on her skin.
That evening, Harvey didn’t even stay for dinner before leaving town for a business trip. Claudia didn’t see him again until their wedding day.
As Claudia stood there lost in thought, Harold walked into the room.
He was carrying a small velvet box.
He’d spotted Harvey heading out fro
backyard when he arrived earlier.
Harold had a pretty good idea what that was about.
Isabelle had originally planned to wear the pearl necklace Theodore gave her, but when she saw Harold coming out of the study after speaking with Damian, she handed him the box instead.
Harold‘
s eyes fell on the black card in Claudia’s hand.
“This is from your brother,” she explained. “He said it was from your dad and him.”
Harold gave a slight nod.
From Dad and him, yeah right. That was all Harvey.
“He just pushed it into my hand and left,” Claudia added.
Harold nodded again. “If Harvey gives you something, just take it. He’s definitely not short on money
“Okay,” Claudia said quietly, pressing her lips together. “Then maybe you could hold onto it for us?

She handed the card back to him.
Harold took it and slipped it into his pocket.
“What’s this?” Claudia asked, glancing at the box.
“Something from Mom.” Harold/carefully lifted the d. Inside lay a delicate pearl necklace–the one his great–grandfather had left for Isabelle.
He moved behind Claudia, catching her eyes in the mirror as he fastened the necklace around her throat.
His fingers brushed lightly against her skin, and the gaze she’d held in the mirror flickered away almost instantly.
Harold noticed her look away.
A soft smile touched his lips. As he helped put on her earrings, he took his time, his movements deliberately slow.
Claudia felt her earlobes growing warm, turning a soft shade of pink under his touch.
Harold glanced at her from the side. “Did I pinch you?”
“No.”
She gripped the fabric of her skirt a little tighter.
He smirked slightly.
Once the earrings were in place, he rested his hands on her shoulders, and they both looked at her reflection in the full–length mirror.
“Stunning,” he said, his tone sincere and unreserved.
Claudia’s eyes shifted from her own image to his face in the glass.
The way Harold was looking at her–so intently–made her wonder, just for a moment, if he might actually have real feelings for
her.
They’d only known each other a few months, after all.
While her heart was still fluttering, Harold leaned down and placed a light kiss on her shoulder
She flinched slightly, her pulse jumping.
“We’ll go with this look, then,” Harold said, his expression hidden behind her.
Claudia couldn’t see his face. “Alright,” she replied softly.
Then Harold opened the wardrobe beside them. Inside hung a wedding gown that made Claudia’s eyes widen- an heirloom piece hand–embroidered with gold thread and accented with delicate iridescent beading.
This vintage style wedding dress had taken over two years to create. The materials and craftsmanship alone were valued well into seven figures, and Harvey had personally sourced the gold thread used in the embroidery.
Harold paused in front of the open wardrobe.
