Harvey checked his watch and nodded. “Alright, our suite is right next door. You two should get some rest first. We’re going out for dinner tonight. If Zander gives you any trouble, just give me a call.”
“Sounds good,” Claudia replied,
Harvey left with Dolores, and once the door clicked shut, Claudia remarked quietly to herself what a grea brother Harold had.
Settling onto the couch, Claudia sent Harold a text to let him know they’d arrived safely and mentioned running into Harvey and Zander.
She waited a while, but no reply came.
Setting her phone aside on the coffee table, she opened her laptop and began reviewing the materials Darren had forwarded to her.
By late afternoon, Zander was awake.
“Mommy!” his voice called from the bedroom, and soon he appeared, tugging lightly at the hem of Claudia’s shirt.
Claudia hurried over.
“I’m right here, sweetie,” she said softly, crouching down to pinch his cheeks before scooping him up.
Still drowsy, Zander’s cheeks were warm and flushed from sleep. He went limp in her arms, resting his head against her shoulder.
Claudia carried him to the bathroom to freshen up, then brought him back to the living room.
Just then, Harold’s video call came through.
“Daddy!” Zander leaned against Claudia, peering at the screen.
“Hey, Zander,” Harold greeted, his eyes shifting to Claudia. “Everything okay? You must be tired.”
“I’m alright,” she said, noticing some noise in the background and recognizing the setting. “Are you at home? Do you have company over?”
Harold glanced toward the study, where workers were installing bookshelves and moving in desks and office furnishings.
“No, just getting some repairs done–the plumbing was acting up.”
“Oh, I see.”
After a brief pause, he asked, “Have you missed me?”
Before Claudia could answer, Zander chirped, “I missed you, Daddy!”

Harold chuckled lightly. “I wasn’t asking you, buddy.”
Claudia smiled, pressing her lips together. “I’ve missed you.”
His expression softened, a slight curve touching the corner of his mouth. “I’ve missed you too.”
Then Zander looked intently at the screen. “Daddy, do you love Mommy?”
Claudia felt her cheeks grow warm. “Zander, honey, that’s a little…” she began gently.
Kids really did say whatever popped into their heads.
But Harold’s reply was steady and clear. “I love your mom very much.”
The words seemed to settle right into Claudia’s heart.
She blushed almost imperceptibly and shifted slightly out of the camera frame, lightly patting her cheeks
Why did this little one have to ask everything?
Zander beamed. “I love Mommy too!”
Then, tilting his head up toward Claudia, he asked innocently, “Mommy, do you love Daddy?”
On the screen, Harold watched closely, his throat moving slightly as he waited.
Claudia lowered her voice to a soft murmur. “Yes… I love Daddy too.”
Zander burst into delighted giggles, bouncing excitedly on the couch.
“Yay!”
Harold’s gaze remained fixed on Claudia.
“Babe,” he called to her softly.
By then, Zander had already slipped out of view, distracted by the toys Dolores had left on the side table.
Claudia picked up the phone again and hummed in response.
“Thank you for doing all this,” Harold said, his voice warm.,
She simply shook her head, smiling.

For a moment, they stayed quiet on the call.
Noticing the time, Claudia spoke up. “Harvey made dinner plans for us. We’ll be heading out with him.
soon.”
“He already told me,” Harold replied with a fond smile. “If you need anything at all, just let him know. We’re family–don’t hesitate, okay?”

Chapter 841 I Love You
“I won’t.”
They exchanged a few more words before finally hanging up.
Harold slipped his phone into his pocket, the smile lingering on his lips.
He walked into the study, watching the workers put the finishing touches on the space.
The layout was nearly identical to the study back in Claudia’s countryside cottage.
By the large floor–to–ceiling window, a soft rug had been laid out, and the late afternoon sun spilled gently across it.
Harold could already picture Claudia there–curled up on a cushion with a book in her hands, the sunlight wrapping around her like a halo.
She looked like an angel who had found her way to earth, glowing even under ordinary daylight.
After ending the call, Claudia held her phone for a long moment.
She opened her photo gallery, scrolling through the pictures she’d taken of Harold recently.
A sudden, deep wave of missing him washed over her.
