Chapter 865 Ganging Up on Daddy
He moved around the couch and planted a kiss on each of their foreheads.
“Ganging up on me now, huh? Admit it–you were wrong, weren’t you?”
Harold started tickling them again. Zander was laughing so hard he could barely catch his breath.
“Daddy, I give up! I’m sorry!” Zander managed to yell between giggles.
Harold finally eased up, then turned to Claudia with soft eyes. “And you? Were you wrong or not?”
Claudia’s cheeks flushed pink.
Whenever he teased Zander, it was all tickles. But with Claudia, he’d mix in kisses along with the playful pokes.
“I’m sorry…” she murmured, not even sure what she was apologizing for.
Harold grinned at the two of them.
“Ding-”
A phone notification chimed from the doorway.
All three turned at the same time.
There stood Harvey, one hand holding a glass of milk, the other balancing a plate of breakfast food. The sound had come from his phone vibrating in his pocket.
“Uncle Harvey, help! Daddy’s picking on Mommy!” Zander laughed, squirmed out from under Harold,
and raced over to his uncle.
Harold helped Claudia sit up gently. “Hey, Harvey.”
Claudia stayed on the couch, her face now fully red, and turned her back to them both.
“I was coming up anyway,” Harvey said. He set the breakfast tray on the table, then scooped Zander into his arms. “We’re heading out at three this afternoon–going up to the countryside.”
“Got it.”
Harvey carried Zander back downstairs.
As soon as they were gone, Claudia grabbed a throw pillow and hurled it at Harold. “This is all your fault! So embarrassing!”
Harold chuckled. “It’s not like we were doing anything wrong. Besides, Zander was right here with us.”
She still looked completely mortified.

“Alright, come get some br
“I really thought you’d cut yourself,” Claudia mumbled, her tone still a little annoyed.
“Thick skin. No harm done.”
Once seated at the table, Harold peeled a tender cooked egg for her plate.
“This sausage breakfast muffin amazing,” Claudia said, unable to hide how much she liked it.
“Mom’s probably craving it again,” Harold replied with a knowing smile.
“Dad is so good to Mom.”
“What about me?” Harold raised an eyebrow playfully. “Don’t just sit there feeling left out. You can ask me for things too. You have to speak up for what you want–sometimes I’m not great at picking up hints.”
Harold had always been straightforward.
Claudia, on the other hand, tended to watch people’s expressions carefully, trying to guess what they were thinking, overanalyze everything, and eventually bury her own feelings.
It was a hard way to live.
Claudia simply smiled at him and didn’t say a word.
Just before they were ready to leave, Henrietta still hadn’t returned.
Claudia couldn’t help asking, “Where’s Henrietta?”
“Over at Dolores‘ place. She should be back soon,” Harold said as he loaded Zander’s suitcase into the trunk. “Does she know yet?”
“Not yet. Big bro got an earful from Dolores about it yesterday. He said to let her enjoy Thanksgiving first. No need to rush things.”
Claudia nodded. “A girl has to look out for herself first.”
Just then, she saw Harvey calling Henrietta.
“Get back here. We’re leaving,” Harvey said flatly, his tone devoid of any emotion.
On the other end, Henrietta had the call on speaker. Dolores was walking her out and stuck her tongue out at the phone.
“Okay.” Henrietta said before hanging up.
“Don’t mention me to your brother when you get home. And don’t tell my parents I quit my job, either- they’ll drag me back to work at the vineyard,” Dolores reminded her repeatedly, worried she might let something slip.

But she wanted to make her own way. Plus, as a woman, she didn’t love the idea of spending her whole life surrounded by the wine trade.
“I got it, but you have to listen to me too. Don’t go see Carson these next few days. He’s really not a good guy,” Henrietta said, looking straight at her.
“You should consider Harvey instead. He’s…”
Harvey had told Henrietta everything about Carson. Henrietta had been stunned, and she’d decided to help Harvey steer Dolores in the right direction.
But she also sensed that Harvey’s concern for Dolores went way beyond their original connection.
“Henrietta, I think of you like a sister, and now you want me to become your sister–in–law? Have your mind?”

Dolores stared at her in disbelief.
“Zander treated me as his sister. He calls him ‘Uncle Harvey‘. That’s a bigger gap than what’s between you and me.”
She held her hands apart for emphasis.
Henrietta offered an awkward smile.
