Chapter 905 Waiting and Worrying
Supported by Amanda, Dolores stumbled into the waiting area, still unsteady on her feet.
Harold remained in a daze. He turned his head slightly toward her and shook it. “It’s not him.”
A collective sigh of relief swept through the room.
Dolores finally caught her breath.
Just then, a doctor hurried over. “You were brought in from the same accident?”
“Yes, that was me,” Dolores answered, her voice trembling.
“Has family been notified?”
Harold stepped forward. “I’m family.”
The doctor quickly pulled out a set of forms. “The patient has severe internal bleeding, a concussion, a fractured arm…”
Harold barely registered the details-wherever the doctor pointed, he signed.
Dolores stood off to the side, her eyes fixed on the operating room doors.
Both Howard and Harvey had been taken into surgery.
The driver showed no vital signs.
The wait outside the OR felt endless.
Harold glanced at Dolores. “Are you all right?”
She shook her head.
Harvey had shielded her with his own body-she hadn’t been hurt at all.
If it hadn’t been for the privacy partition absorbing some of the impact, Harvey might not have made it.
“I’m so sorry…” Dolores whispered, tears streaming down her face.
Harold kept his voice steady. “This wasn’t your fault.”
Claudia held his hand, gently rubbing it. “Harvey’s going to pull through.”
Quentin looked at Dolores, pale and shaken, and turned to Amanda. “Why don’t you take her to a nearby hotel to clean up first She can come back for a checkup afterward.”
“I’m not going,” Dolores insisted, her gaze still locked on the OR doors. She wanted to be right there when he came out. “F’ll wait here.”
“if you wait like this, he’ll be frightened when he sees you,” Quentin said, nodding subtly to Amanda.
Amanda put an arm around Dolores and gently guided her away.
Quentin lowered his voice as he spoke to Harold. “I was going to call your father, but i thought I’d reach out to you first.”
Harold gave a stiff nod. His eyes were bloodshot, though he didn’t seem to notice.
“The police called earlier. The driver who caused the accident was DUI and had an outstanding warrant-he’s already in custody.
Claudia watched Harold’s fists tighten.
“Who drinks and drives first thing in the morning?” Harold took a slow, controlled breath.
How could this just be a coincidence?
Roger approached cautiously.
“Mr. Cross, there’s an issue at the company.”
Harold looked at him. “What is it?”
