Chapter 925 Confrontation at the Riverside
Claudia met Harold’s gaze and spoke quietly, “Maybe because I was his fiancée back then, he never really sorted out his own feelings. He probably just assumed he was supposed to be into me, right?”
Otherwise, why would he have looked at her with so much intensity back in the day?
Under the table, Harold reached for her hand. “Regret any of it?”
She stiffened, pulled her hand back, and gave him a light jab beneath the tablecloth. “What’s that supposed to mean!”
He chuckled and caught the hand that had just punched him.
Nearby, Harvey was casually eating while stealthily finding Dolores’ hand under the table and lacing his fingers with hers.
She glanced over at him. He kept his eyes on his plate, as if this were a long-established habit.
A small smile touched her lips. She tugged his hand closer and began playing with it in both of hers.
Harvey’s hands were slender and well-shaped-every time Dolores handed him papers to sign at the office, she’d sneak an extra look.
Even professional hand models wouldn’t compare.
Now she could finally fiddle with them openly. She’d wanted to mess with Harvey like this for ages but never found the right moment.
Noticing her little game, Harvey felt a quiet satisfaction.
After dinner, the guys gathered to talk business, while Isabelle and Amanda chatted off to the side. Claudia was on the phone with Darren.
Henrietta and Dolores took Zander down by the river to watch a couple of geese paddling in the water.
“Zander, look how plump those two are–they’d be perfect for a roast,” Dolores remarked, eyeing the birds like they were already on a menu.
Henrietta nudged her. “Don’t say that in front of him, or he’ll cry at night. Harold won’t let you hear the end of it.”
Zander had put so much effort into raising them–they were nearly as big as he was now. Anyone who messed with his geese would have to answer to him.
“I heard your dad makes an incredible red wine glazed goose, though.”
Henrietta linked arms with her as they strolled along the bank. “From now on, he’s our dad,”
They both laughed, the sound carrying toward the patio where the others were still seated.
She slipped past Damian and the others, making her way to the front counter to order.
Dolores and the nanny stayed with Zander by the water.
“Dora?”
A familiar voice came from behind. Dolores turned and her expression tightened.
It was Carson.
What was he doing here?
