Chapter 51: Who’s The Traitor?
Riley’s POV
All my sleepiness vanished in armistant.
I jumped up immediately and went to wake my teammates.
And just like me, they were shocked and scared too.
“I didn’t see anything! Not a single person, not even a passing rabbit,” Olivia said in horror “Maybe it was a ghost…”
She shivered at her own words.
“Definitely one of the competitors,” Silas crossed his arms, his face hard and stern as stone in the moonlight. “And a good one. They got close without any of us noticing. Top-tier hunter.”
“But why didn’t they finish us when they had the chance? They could’ve just lured some beasts to our camp and we’d all be out. Why leave a note and warn us?” Odin asked.
Then he glanced at me. That look-dark and complicated-made my stomach sink.
I knew what he was thinking
He still suspected I’d told Ezra about our strategy and campsite.
He thought I’d betrayed everyone.
“If you’ve got something to say, Odin, just say it!” I clenched my fists, glaring at him. “But I swear I didn’t betray this team.”
“If not you, then who else?” Olivia said with a sarcastic laugh. “You’re the only one so tight with someone on the other team.”
Anger flared inside me. I gritted my teeth. “Maybe it was you. You really didn’t see or hear anything during your watch? Was the enemy just that good, or did you intentionally choose to be blind?”
“What the fuck did you just say?!” Olivia cried.
“My sister would never betray us like that.” Odin said firmly.
The assumption behind his words made my blood run cold. “And what’s that supposed to mean? You think I’m capable of betraying us?”
He just stared at me coldly. A wave of emotion crashed over me, blurring my vision. “The Odin I knew was fair and honest. He wouldn’t blindly take his sister’s side like this! What-what happened to you?”
I couldn’t believe Odin’s attitude had done a complete 180 turn since he found out about me and Ezra.
He used to be so sweet and supportive. Always on my side.
But now he was like a completely different person.
Why? Because he saw Ezra kissing me, so now he thinks I seduced my stepbrother?
Does he think I’m a whore now? Just like everyone else?
“How dare you question my brother like that? He changed his attitude because he finally sees you for what you really are. A slut! “Olivia spat. Her sharp voice startled a few birds from the trees.
“Shut up, you idiot, you’ll attract other competitors!” I hissed at her.
“Are you seriously scolding me now you big traitor? Let me teach you a lesson first!”

She lunged at me and grabbed my hair.
I yelped in pain and punched her in the face, sending her stumbling back and hit the tree. She screamed like a maniac and charged at me again. We both hit the ground, wrestling in the dirt and rocks.
“Fuck. Stop it. Both of you!”
Next thing I knew, the guys had pulled us apart –din had Olivia by the collar, and Silas was holding me back by the waist.
“I didn’t team up with you fuckers so you could tear each other apart on the first fucking night!” Silas roared, his arm like steel around me. “Odin, control your sister. I’ll talk to Riley-”
“Don’t bother. I’ll cool off myself.”
I shoved Silas away and stormed toward the woods.
Rage burned in my chest like fire, making me restless. I kicked a pebble into the air, scaring a rabbit that bolted away. Still not satisfied, I shifted and let Rene take over.
She took me rushing through the words and we ended up at a nearby stream.
I drank deeply, then plunged my head into the icy cold water. The chill helped, just a little.
I tried to think. Who left that note. And why?
But no, I couldn’t focus. Odin’s distrust hurt too much.
I used to really like him. My first crush. He was so perfect and dreamy, like sunshine in my life. When we met again in the Full Moon Pack, I was so thrilled. I thought it was the Moon Goddess’s arrangement.
But was it?
Odin didn’t even trust me. The way he looked at me just now cut deep into my heart. Like I’d sell out our win just to please Ezra. Like I was like my mother-a woman with nothing but her face and body.
Footsteps sounded behind me. I buried my face in my knees and mumbled, “Go away.”
“You shouldn’t wander off alone. The school’s deployed beasts all over these mountains. Too dangerous,” Silas said.
He sat down beside me and said, “Change of plans now. We leave at first light to hunt the Ironback Boars. Those bastards always move uphill at sunrise to lick salt from the rocks. Perfect chance to take them down.”
I knew what he meant.
We couldn’t stay at this camp anymore-it was compromised. Ironback Boars were worth decent points. It was a smart move.
“Hey, Silas. Do you believe me?” I asked.
“I do. For now. But if there really is a traitor on this team, I’ll take them out without mercy. Nothing’s stopping me from winning.” His voice was cold as steel.
Then he stood and patted my shoulder. “Come on. No time to mope. Time to pack.”
I took one last look at my reflection in the stream. The girl staring back at me had red and puffy eyes from crying, and her face pale.
I rubbed my face hard, until that ambitious fire sparked back in my eyes. Then I got up and quickly followed Silas.
When we got back to camp, Odin and Olivia were already there. The four of us packed in silence, refilled our water, checked our
weapons.
The atmosphere was heavy and weird.

I didn’t know how this rift between us would affect the competition. But no time to think about that now. Gotta focus on the present
Right before we set out, Silas gathered us for another briefing.
“The Ironback Boars’ den is east of here, in a cave on the mountain’s shady side. Their caves are deep and dark, so sneaking in to hunt them is basically impossible. We need to catch them off guard at sunrise when they come out to lick salt.”
His gaze swept over each of us.
“Riley, I want you to place salt chunks in a narrow stone corridor so we can trap the whole group. I’ll seal the rear escape route. Olivia and Odin, you two attack from above once they’re trapped. Me and Riley will close in from both ends. Everyone good?”
We all nodded.
Silas shot Olivia a pointed warning. “And this time, I want EVERYONE sticking to the plan. Absolutely no freelancing.”
Olivia looked like she wanted to argue but swallowed it back.
As we shouldered our packs and headed out, she deliberately bumped into me with her shoulder.
“How’d you get Silas so on your side? Have to suck his dick too?” Her voice dripped with venom.
“Fuck you,” I said coldly.
She smirked. “You should be ashamed of yourself. You dick-sucking useless tramp.”
With that, she strode ahead.
I stared at the back of her head and imagined how satisfying it would be to crack her skull open with a rock.
But I held back that thought eventually and followed my team.
By the time we reached the Ironback Boars’ den, the first rays of sunlight were hitting the mountain.
The four of us crouched behind rocks on the high ground, peering down
at
the boars.
Those beasts were even uglier up close. Massive bodies, thick with muscle and filthy dark bristles, like they were built from mud and stone. And the ridges on their backs-rows of black, iron-hard plates designed to slice through flesh.
Their tusks were long, yellow, and cruelly curved, glistening with spit as they snorted at the ground.
“Shit,” Odin muttered tensely.
I got it. We didn’t have beasts this scary and disgusting back home.
“Each one’s worth 140 points. Kill ten and we’re in the top ten rankings.”
Silas unslung his weapon. He nodded at me, and we slipped down from our hiding spot first.
I followed the plan, using salt as bait to lure the boars into a dead-end narrow path. When they caught the scent, they squealed excitedly and followed my lead. The bloody smell from their mouths made my stomach turn.
But no time to be scared.
I drew my dagger, yelled, and drove it into a boar’s skull.
It was a bloody fight.
