The Abandoned Heiress Reborn to Be Cherished (Seraphina) novel Chapter 314

314 First Day at the Office

Inside the sleek, glass-walled conference room of the tech company, Ronald paced restlessly, his frustration mounting with every step. His sharp voice cut through the tense air as he addressed the research team seated before him.

“This isn’t how my design is supposed to function! If you don’t understand something, why don’t you speak up? What are your mouths for—just decoration?” His irritation was palpable, and the room grew heavy with silence.

The research team sat frozen, stunned by this rare display of anger from Ronald. None of them had ever seen him lose his temper like this, and so they remained silent, unsure of how to respond.

Suddenly, the door creaked open, and the receptionist cautiously peeked inside, her uncertain expression revealing her hesitation to interrupt.

“What is it?” Ronald demanded, turning sharply toward her.

She flinched, hesitating before finally speaking, “Boss, there’s a young woman outside asking for you. She said her name is Seraphina.”

“I don’t have time,” Ronald snapped immediately, but the moment the words left his mouth, he froze in place. “Wait—did you say Seraphina?”

“Yes, a young woman,” the receptionist repeated softly.

Without another word, Ronald dropped the documents he was holding and rushed out of the room. The research team exchanged wide-eyed glances, their curiosity now fully ignited.

“Who is she?” one whispered.

“No clue,” another replied, their faces filled with intrigue.

Ronald’s hurried footsteps echoed as he approached the reception area, but the pace slowed the instant he laid eyes on her. There, standing quietly by the desk with a cloth bag in hand, was Seraphina. The tension in his face softened, and a genuine smile spread across his lips.

“Hello,” she said warmly, offering him a small wave.

Side by side, they walked into the main office space. Seraphina’s eyes roamed over the minimalist décor—clean lines, muted colors—and the focused employees who were deeply engrossed in their work.

It was her first visit to the company, the first time she would meet the team she had only ever heard about. She couldn’t help but feel a quiet sense of amazement at how far she had distanced herself from her role as the absentee boss.
