Chapter 110

Alpha Hamilton

Every day that maid comes in and injects me with something, I suppose that’s what keeps my body limp and useless.

My son Maurice has turned into a snake. It’s his ritual to come once a week just to gloat, to stand over me and say to my face that he’s the alpha now and that he’s doing a better job than I ever did.

I can’t move except for my eyes. It’s been like this for three years. I haven’t seen Bella even once

her husband could at least bring her so I could see my child.

I still remember the way she looked at me that day, like I’d plunged a knife into her chest. But I did

everything for her, and the worst part, I couldn’t spend the money I got from Dylan.

By now Maurice has probably squandered it. What does that runt know about leadership or

politics? He’s just a child. Once I regain my strength and my position, I’ll make him pay. I’ll make

him suffer the way he’s made me suffer.

He locked me in this filthy, dark room full of dirt and cobwebs with no thought for me. This is the

same boy who never lacked anything from me. Maybe he lacked love and care, but that’s all.

The maid comes in and I start to breathe hard. I want to speak, but my mouth won’t obey. She glances at me and sighs.

“I know what you want, Alpha Hamilton, but that won’t be possible,” she says as she pushes the drug into my veins. That damn woman adds, “You should’ve ruled your people better, maybe they

wouldn’t have turned on you,” then wipes her hands when she’s finished.

She looks back with a sly smile. “And for the record, the current alpha is doing a better job than you.” With that she turns and leaves. I shut my eyes and force my anger down, even the maids have

no respect for me now.

This is what Maurice has reduced me to. I will make him pay. I will never forgive him.

But how can I make him pay when each day only gets worse? I haven’t seen the sunlight in three years, and my wolf has been silent since. It’s like being trapped in a body that isn’t mine anymore.

Maybe the maid could be reasoned with, but how? The way she talks to me, I can tell she despises me. Still, I have to think of a plan… something, anything. I can’t stay like this forever.

Maurice

My eyes fell on the injections lined up neatly on the shelf. We’re running low. The doctor swore that

even if the doses stop, my father will still be useless, but I’m not ready to take that risk yet. Still

can’t keep wasting money on those drugs. Once they’re finished, I won’t buy more. And if he

somehow regains control of his body… I’ll end him myself.

A knock came at the door.

“Alpha,” the maid’s voice called.

“Come in,” I said, turning toward her.

“It’s all done,” she reported.

“Good. You may leave,” I replied with a curt nod.

When she left, I let out a slow breath and glanced toward my bed. Octavia’s face filled my mind,

how she’d look lying there, her body tangled with mine. The thought sent heat through me. I’ve

waited long enough. I’ll mark her, whether she wants it or not. My patience has limits and she’s already reached them.

I walked out of my room and headed straight for hers, already knowing she’d be inside. The

moment I reached the door, I stopped, dragging a hand through my hair as I let out a long sigh. I

just hope she doesn’t hate me for this, I thought.

I pushed the door open and stepped in quietly. She was sitting on the bed with a book in her hand, her gaze lifting to meet mine.

“Are you bored today?” I asked, trying to sound casual.

She gave me a curious look. “Is that why you came here?” she asked softly.

I hesitated for a second, then said honestly, “No. I came to mark you.”

She exhaled, lowering her eyes for a moment before whispering, “So, it’s time then.” There wasn’t

anger or fear in her voice, just calm acceptance, and somehow that made it harder for me.

Her gaze lifted again, firm and steady. “And is that how people are marked?” she asked quietly.

“Well… since you didn’t want it and I do, then yes,” I admitted.

She shook her head lightly. “I don’t know much about relationships,” she said, her tone calm but laced with quiet defiance, “but if I were to rate you right now, you’d score a minus one hundred.”

I blinked, confused. “What does that mean?”

“Have you ever heard of dates?” she asked, setting her book aside. “You know, buying flowers, taking someone out, trying to make them like you instead of forcing them?”

Her words caught me completely off guard. I felt my mouth go dry. “Oh…” I muttered, feeling like

an idiot for the very first time.

She crossed her arms, tilting her head slightly. “You can start from somewhere,” she said, her eyes holding mine expectantly.

After a moment, an idea came to me, simple, but genuine. “Then, would you like to go for a walk with me?” I asked, searching her face.

And for the first time since I’d known her, she smiled, not faintly, not out of politeness, but a real warm smile that reached her eyes.
