Chapter 111
Clair
Minutes later, she stepped out of the room wearing a light, flowery dress that didn’t cling too
tightly to her body, yet somehow made her look even more breathtaking. Her hair was neatly done, soft strands framing her face perfectly. I swallowed hard, my throat dry as I took her in. She looked
nothing like the quiet, trembling girl I had first met.
“So… where are we going?” she asked, giving me that small, disarming smile again.
I hesitated for a moment, watching her. There was something different about her today, this calm
confidence that threw me completely off balance. It wasn’t like before, when she could barely look
at me without shaking. I was still trying to understand this shift when her voice pulled me out of
my thoughts.
“Are you okay?” she asked, tilting her head slightly.
“Yeah,” I managed, clearing my throat. “Just… thinking.” I didn’t want to say more, didn’t want to ruin this fragile moment. I decided to give her a head start, to let her take the lead, because I was starting to really like this side of her, even if it left me completely confused.
Then she did something that completely caught me off guard, she walked right up to me and gently slipped her hand through my arm. My body went still, my breath catching in my throat. The warmth of her touch was so real, so close, that it sent a strange flutter through my chest.
“You look like you’re about to pass out,” she said softly, her voice laced with amusement.
If I opened my mouth, I knew I’d embarrass myself, so I stayed quiet and started walking instead.
She followed beside me, her hand still resting lightly on my arm.
I already knew where I wanted to take her, a place I’d never brought anyone before. It wasn’t fancy
or special to anyone else, but it meant everything to me. As a child, whenever I felt unwanted, by
my father, by my sister, by the mother who barely looked at me, I’d always go there. It was the only place where I could breathe, the only place that made me feel seen.
It was my solace, my secret refuge – the one part of myself I’d never shared with anyone. Until now.
We got into the car and I drove in silence, my hands gripping the steering wheel a little too tightly. My mind was loud – a mix of uncertainty and nerves. I kept wondering if bringing her there was the right choice. That place wasn’t just a spot I went to when I was bored; it was where I bled emotionally, where I hid the parts of me that no one ever cared to see. It was my peace, my pain, my secret. I wasn’t sure she’d understand it… or me.
I glanced at her from the corner of my eye – her head tilted slightly toward the window, eyes tracing the road ahead, her expression calm and unreadable. The closer we got, the heavier my chest felt.

Claud
I’d never brought anyone there before. Not friends, not family, no one. And now, here I was, driving
my mate, a woman who both confused and softened me in ways I couldn’t explain, straight into my private world.
When the forest started to appear, thick trees shading the narrow path, she turned to me with a
puzzled expression. “Where is this place?” she asked, curiosity laced in her tone.
I swallowed and forced a small smile. “You’ll see,” I muttered, stepping out of the car once we
stopped. I walked around to her side and opened the door for her.
She looked around, squinting at the tall trees and tangled weeds, a half-smirk on her lips. “Not exactly what I had in mind for a date,” she teased, her voice light but cautious.
I gave a small, nervous chuckle. “Well… let’s go.” My tone came out quieter than I intended, and before I could prepare myself, she slipped her arm through mine again. That simple touch froze me in place for half a second. Her warmth seeped through my skin, and my heartbeat instantly
spiked, but I tried not to show it.
We started walking through the narrow trail. With every step closer, my stomach twisted tighter. She had no idea what this place meant to me. It wasn’t just a “spot” – it was the only place I had left when my father made me feel invisible, when my mother treated me like an afterthought, when my sister got all the attention and I was just… there. I had built that place with my own hands, shaping it into something that felt like love, even when I’d never truly received it.
When we finally reached the overgrown entrance, she hesitated, eyeing the curtain of weeds. “This place is kinda creepy,” she muttered. “A date in the woods?” Her tone was joking, but her brows
pinched slightly.
I turned to her, our eyes meeting. “Yeah,” I said softly, a small smile tugging at my lips. “Just hope
it’s to your expectations.”
She gave me a curious look but said nothing as I pushed aside the thick foliage. We stepped
through and instantly, the world changed.
The first thing that hit was the sound of water, the gentle, calming rush of a small waterfall nearby. Then the air – it smelled of wildflowers and damp earth, mixed with the faint perfume of blooming petals that grew freely across the clearing. Sunlight filtered through the trees in golden shards, dancing on the water’s surface.
I didn’t look at the place; I already knew every corner by heart. Instead, I looked at her.
Her eyes widened, lips parting in awe. “Wow…” she whispered, stepping forward. Her hand slipped from my arm as she moved toward the flowers – lilies, daisies, and wild roses, all thriving together in disarrayed harmony. A few butterflies hovered around her, landing briefly on her hair before
